Hasn't it occur to anyone that Itachi could have shared/transferred to Sasuke more than his memories regarding the massacre? what happened the last time Itachi poked Sasuke on the forehead? that's right, he transferred the Amaterasu into Sasuke to fend off Tobi, what if Itachi transferred the Totsuka Blade and Yata mirror into Sasuke before departing to the afterlife?
Now, Orochimaru was searching for the Totsuka Blade that is a variant of his sword Kusanagi, the Totsuka must have been a material weapon once because if it wasn't then why is Orochimaru searching for it in the first place? if it is the variant sword of the material blade Kusanagi, then the Totsuka must have been a material blade too.
So why did the Totsuka became infused with Itachi's Susanoo? it's because he was hiding it from Orochimaru, Zetsu knows of the Yata Mirror because Oro was not trying to find it so he didn't need to hide the fact that his Susanoo's shield is the Yata.
Why was Orochimaru searching for it? it's either because he wanted its' power or he was afraid of it because it's a weapon capable of disabling him despite his immortality or both.
If the Totsuka and Yata were once material, then Itachi must have dematerialized them esp. the blade for two good reasons: 1. He wanted to hide it from Orochimaru 2. His Susanoo can wield them without them having to take up inventory space (if they were material weapons then he had to carry them around, which might lead to theft esp. by Oro) They are known as phase weapons and phase shields in fiction:
Now, since the Yata and Totsuka are already dematerialized and assimilated into chakra energy, then it's only a matter of transferring them from the wielder to another, just like what Itachi did when he transferred the Amaterasu into Sasuke's eyes
If Itachi can do that, then why can't he transfer the Yata Mirror and Totsuka Blade to Sasuke?
It's possible he could have given Sasuke more than his memories, since the last time Itachi touched him on the head he left more than what meets the eye, we thought he was merely doing a gesture of endearment to his little brother but it turns out he implanted the Amaterasu inside Sasuke to finish off Madara. Itachi always plans ahead, so why wouldn't he give his most powerful weapons to Sasuke esp. at the dangerous present Sasuke is living in, thoughts?
PS: To those who said Itachi wouldn't trust giving them to Sasuke, reread the last chapter Itachi was in, he lamented that he did not trust Sasuke before, but no matter what he does now, he will always love him, meaning he trusted Sasuke before he departed to the afterlife.
UPDATE
There is also another good possibility that Sasuke already has the Totsuka Blade and the Yata Mirror the moment he transplanted Itachi's eyes into him, but he has yet to awaken them, as itachi1000 pointed out here:
It's entirely possible that Sasuke could have already obtained those items even prior to his encounter with Edo Itachi, it may lay dormant within his Susanoo's arsenal which could be awaken the moment Sasuke manifests his Perfect Susanoo.
