You don't know what their mind status us, what they've been through, or who they are. Some people put everything they have into something fictional because that is the only source of happiness, comfort, acceptance, (etc...) they've ever had. From the POV of the majority of us who have experience those things rather frequently, we know things are good and get better. That is our state of mind. For people who never get that, it's just earth shattering for them to loose that one attachment, that one escape. They are living in a never-recoverable state. For that, I'm not looking down on their choice. It's their decision. I, like you, wish things could've gone better, but talking to a a brick wall is still talking to a brick wall. It's pointless because a wall only knows how to be a wall. Poor analogy, but the point still stands. Some people take things seriously because it's all they have. Calling them stupid is ignorant because you don't understand. I don't understand and instead of throwing out names, I'm just going to say I don't understand. It's all I can do.
Also, I'm not justifying their actions. Just trying to talk from their POV.
