Hm... I think the best way would be to exercise, but not excessively, unless you wanted to get into real shape (toning and muscle gain). Along with that eating healthier, more fruits and vegetables, with decent portion sizes would also be best. Then try to substitute unhealthy drinks, like soda and energy drinks, for water and 100% fruit juices. That is what I would suggest if someone wanted to lose weight.
Good advice^^, however, be careful for fruit juices all the time, some actually contain either war too much acid(vitamine C) or fructose, which can be turned into regular sugar. So a couple of glasses are ok, not a couple of liters. Drink green tea, and water.
And to lose weight: EAT, it sounds strange, but eat. A lot, and good stuff. Healthy cereals when you wake up(EARLY), with fruits, water, yoghurt, vegetable. AS MUCH AS YOU LIKE.
EAT an apple around 10-11 a.m.
EAT small lunch around 12-13
Eat another piece of fruit in the afternoon around 15-16
Tea time with digestive biscuits, and green tea without sugar.
Dinner before 19:00 if possible. DO NOT EAT AFTER 20:00(Extremely important)
THIS, and regular exercise(burn at least a extra 700 calories. You will burn 1300 anyways, 700 gives you a normal healthy diet.
This is to get a healthy metabolism, and that's what does wonders.
ANOTHER thing: do not stop eating... you body will hog all sugars and fats it can get, and you will feel ****ty.
More so, eat pineapple... Digesting it takes a lot of calories.

EDIT: the overdose of vitamine C is only bad for your teeth...
