Tobirama said that the eye was a result of the Uchiha clan's strong love being broken which causes an emotional response triggering the optic nerve, resulting in Sharingan. Our prior knowledge of the Uchiha says that the Uchiha ancestor inherited his EYES, his poweful chakra and his spiritual energy from the Sage and it is not from a curse. This could have been a mistake on Kishi's part.

Uchihas are descendants of Rikodou Sennin's older son(the one that wasnt picked as his successor and was blessed with the sage's eyes)
Sharingan is a mutation of rinnegan and a curse due to the sole fact that nothing good ever comes from it

spiritual energy=yin chakra
yin symbolizes evil,cold,and darkness
when sasuke was using his ms karin noticed that his chakra was getting colder and when he used susano'o atsui noticed his chakra resembled genjutsu which is the yin element
so that special chakra in their optic nerve is making them gain more yin chakra like the elder son

The sharingan or rinnegan should have been meant for good, but maybe it wasn't and it was the SO6P fault for giving him a cursed eye? Doesn't add up

But remember that the Older Son is the ancestor of the Uchiha, so thats where they get the eye from.

To activate the eye, that is where Tobiramas statement comes from. He says it's a curse because it happens whether they want it to or not, not that it's actually placed on them from an outside force.

Remember, not all Uchiha activate their Sharingan.

Also, I think the So6P chose the Younger Son because maybe he was less emotional than the Older Son. You never want someone too emotional to be a leader, because then their emotions can overcome them and they won't be able to think straightly.

the eyes are cursed cuz of the elder son's jealousy and hatred which later manifested as the sharingan

Right but from the start the Uchiha clan ancestor had those eyes; so it was never a curse; (on naruto wiki it says he inherited the eyes from the sage). yes the curse was from the Uchiha ancestor but not from the eye itself. So tobirama was wrong, or kishi was wrong. However I think the curse altered the sharingan and made it be used to take revenge instead of for love.

Maybe if I had changed the title than you would understand, I am not trying to say kishi or tobiRAMA (not obito) is wrong, and also I accidentally created the thread in the middle of writing it. But my point is that the previous chapter with tobirama's explanation is not correct in logic. Of course Tobirama wouldn't understand because he is not an Uchiha.

No, that's not what I mean. The Uchiha got the eyes from the Older Son, so yes it was inherited. But the way they get it, is like a curse, because it will happen when you lose a loved one whether you want it too or not.

Also, Tobirama said that "they are captured by darkness and turned evil." What he means, is that because their power for love is so great, when they lose a loved one, their feelings towards the loss turns malevolent, basically going really emo, blaming the world and such because they lost a loved one.

From this, they are strengthened from the Sharingan ALONG with their feelings, meaning that their feelings grow immensely as their strength grows as well.

This could also be a reason why Obito is freaking out so much for Rin's death. The darkness captured him, and even though it was a small thing for him to try to destroy the Shinobi World over, his resolve was strengthened by this "Curse" making him hate the Shinobi World more than if he wasn't part of the Uchiha Clan.

That is the "Curse" Tobirama is talking about, and the Sharingan is what they obtain from that loss. That doesn't mean that they didn't obtain the eye from being descendants from the Older Son, it just means that they don't get the eyes until their feelings grow great enough to obtain them.

I'm pretty sure Tobirama would understand. He is a genius after all. I'm sure he knows all of this after studying them and didn't want to reveal any information on the subject do to the sensitivity of it all.

Very true most of what you said @theprimeofsixpaths Yes the Uchiha have very strong chakra and this heightens their feelings, the curse is like an extra (negative) inheritance which causes their eyes to be unlocked only in certain situations. I think the reason why not every Uchiha unlocks sharingan is purely from bloodline inheritance as well as ability (which technically runs in the blood also). Itachi, sasuke, madara have more of the royal Uchiha bloodline than others, as well as the curse too. However just like you said; the way the eye is unlocked is the curse which was passed down as a result of the Uchiha ancestor's decision. That is also why the powers of the sharingan are shrouded in darkness. Good comment!

was it not also stated that the Sharingan came from the byakugan? This is all so confusing.
