Where does Death Note rank among your top favorite anime/manga?

It was 3 for a while for me, trailing only Naruto and DBZ. but after I bought the first few volumes and reread them, I've gained even more respect for the creators as writers, the story is brilliant and I truly love the series.

I think Death Note is overrated, after you know who died I felt the cleverness of the show sort of disappeared. I had to sort of force myself to reach the end and I didn't really like Near or Mellow.

The only anime I've ever watched that started with "Code" was Code Lyoko, but why do you recommend Code Geass?

Yeah I definitely agree, the show lost something special when "he who shall not be named" died. But overall I think it was a brilliant story and I get so motivated to draw and write mangas/comics with my friends when I read Death Note.

He's one of my favorite characters so that's probably why I was so disappointed with everything that happened after he died. But yes I agree overall it's great, maybe my expectations were too high for it though because all I heard about it before I started watching it was praise.
