Death Note definitly ranks high on my list. But honestly, I only truly like the first half of the series. Probably cuz of you know who being gone....plus I didn't like any of the characters introduced in the second half

Death Note is awesome no doubt. Great story and the clash of wits is great. In particular I can say that Light's development as a character is very well done and it's fascinating to see.

But that's about as far as it goes, Death Note wouldn't be a favorite for me. Honestly I'd rank, say, Code Geass, Steins;Gate, and Future Diary higher as far as intense psychological stories go. Plotwise I think that all of those were just as captivating, though in a vastly different way. I think my main issue with Death Note though was the characters. Light was very well developed and L was very likeable. Sadly, those are the only two characters of any worth to me in Death Note. Everyone else was either random fodder of little importance or so undeveloped that I couldn't care about them to begin with. The thing about Geass, Steins, and FD is that all of them give wider development, particularly the first two but I'd say even FD develops more than DN did. Everyone who isn't Light in Death Note was pretty static, and everyone who isn't L just didn't matter to me.

In the long run I'd give Death Note a 9/10. It's well worth its salt and, in the long run, I do think it's worthy of its acclaim. But I just can't say that it's a "top tier" anime or anything like that, quite a few series impressed me more.

Dragonball Z isn't the best, it lacks in story and the action can be extremely generic and dragged on..but it just holds this special place in my heart that I can't just get rid of. I remember coming home form school everyday to watch DBZ on toonami. And whenever I got a phone call home from my teacher (which was alot -_-) my mom wouldn't even beat me, she would just say I couldn't watch DBZ...I would cry worse than if I actually got beat, *sigh* good times...my dad would beat me though lol

The first series followed the manga until it reached Greed the Avaricious, because it went completely of course in terms of canon storyline.
Whereas Brotherhood followed the manga right down the "A heart made Fullmetal."

Yeah. I preferred Brotherhood overall, but I kinda liked that Ed and Al were separated in the original anime -- it left a lot to the imagination.

Top five for me. What is there not to like in the second part, Nate owning Light was a sight to behold.
