they are all strong in their own way, but i have to say that oro and jiraiya are better in combat (tsunade is a medic so she is important but still a medic) but that doesn't mean that tsunade is weak (she is a sannin) .... so her combat skills are great but not as good as jiraiya's or oro's .... every one has a role in a team

Yup. Is like the theory of the chair with 3 legs. The best balance is found in the chair with 3 legs, not in that of 4 legs. I think some of you learned that at maths classes, lol.

So it's like one cannot stand without the other 2 but neither those 2 can stand without that one, nor one by one could do.

It's the same thing with Slug, Snake, Toad OR Rock, Scissors, Paper.

But how does a snake lose to a slug?

Tsunade isn't a Slug, Jiraiya isn't a toad and well Oro.... Don't know what the fuck he is xd, But the Slug > snake > Toad doesn't apply to the sannin themselves, just their summonings.

yup pretty much. naruto is rooted in mythology, itachi is orochimaru's mortal enemy in japanese mythology for instance (weasels kill snakes, susanoo killed yamata no orochi, the totsuka sword is the only counter to the sword of kusanagi etc).

anyway, the toad>slug>snake>toad dynamic is pretty simple. acid won't work on toads, while oil fuelled flames will obliterate a slug. acid will work on snakes while biting and constriction won't harm the slug. and flames and blunt/piercing damage won't kill a snake capable of shedding it's skin, while constriction and bites will kill the toad.

and even in the manga, the dynamic between the sannin was made quite clear. jiraiya never managed to beat oro, tsunade trashed orochimaru, and jiraiya confidently stated he would kill tsunade if she betrayed konoha, which was why tsunade drugged him.

imo these little hints paint a far clearer picture of what kishi intends than feats, which are purely circumstantial and can be interpreted subjectively.

There is no prep time involved in VS since there is no specific time-line in these situations, the characters are at their prime meaning they have all their abilities ready and prepared
