Dude, Nagato is super strong. he beat Naruto, just didn't kill him.
And remember, naruto wan't the one who killed Nagato. Nagato could still have fought but the plot happened and he decided to trust Naruto, and gave his life to save the people he killed.

hes pretty strong but i guess the fact that he was one of the leaders of the akatsuki, it made him alot stronger than he really was
The six path arn't only the ability that nagato have. . He have lots more. . Able to learn the 5 elemental powers n the ability to learn all the jutsu in naruto verse with the help of his rinnegan is a giant leap over for his awsmness. . U know Nagato can learn your jutsu jst by looking at how U perform them. .bt, its too bad that we couldnt see him do that. . And in ma opinion he is undr rated coz in true sense he is unstopable having the ability to match up Madara in his prime or edo which so evr U want to take. .
Cause he had the rinnengan and looked bad ass while fighting naruto. Btw, the reason why pain is hard to fight is because they are basically all zombie puppets. They can't feel pain and as long as you have those chakra receivers they will continue to work, unless you use oonoki's skill or a tbb which is basically superhuman. Or amaterasu.

My question would have to be; why would anyone who has read the manga make such a stupid question?
You can argue that Itachi might be smarter than Nagato and trick him into losing, but questioning the unbelievable gap between powers between Nagato and let's say 98% of all characters in the manga is purely stupid.

Nagato is MASTER of ALL Elemental Natures. And he did it all at a young age.
He controls all the paths of pain, Abilities that within themselves are godly.
He can control gravity,Bring the dead back to life and kill someone by grabbing them.
If anything the Paths of Pain were his Handicap! Because after he summoned the gedo
like an idiot without Chakra of the tailed beast to give to it he was stuck with those rods in his back.
Unable to really move, SO he had to funnel his power into those bodies.
The bodies that only could really handle 1 path ability at a time.
if anything Nagato would be in a whole other league if he was never forced
to put himself in that situation, and even then he was still on top.
