I would say they have comparable strength. At least so long as Zabuza was in a accurate state of mind (pre-Haku's death).

The scans showed that Zabuza was no push over, and successfully captured Kakashi.

It's not like Kaksshi got 10X better in his skills. He simply gained Kamui which isn't efficient in the Kirigakure no Jutsu.



Just because he was an initial opponent doesn't make him fodder. He's easily a difficult opponent. Otherwise why bother Edo Tensei him?!

Kakashi was caught cuz he was trying to protect his students and was caught up in the waterclone exchange, which lead to him getting captured. Otherwise, when they were on the bridge
and Kakashi wasnt protecting his team, and Kakashi fought Zabuza 1v1, Kakashi won. Haku got in the way of Kakashi's finishing blow.

I can; the water was heavy which means that Zabuza was already doing his jutsu. If the water weren't heavy, kakashi would dodged. Simple.
