Maybe it was just an accident while he was training, like he wasn't paying enough attention or something.

I honestly don't know, but it certainly doesn't take away from his sword skills. :win:

What would Zoro gain by having Mihawk's eye? This isn't Naruto where you gain special powers each time you trade eyes.

And why would they need to promise that next time they meet, they'll fight? At the Barratie, Mihawk already told Zoro that they will one day fight for the title and Zoro should "surpass" both his sword and himself.

Furthermore, we already saw a photo of current Mihawk when the marine dude was addressing the current Warlords to the marines and Mihawk did not have a missing eye since both his eyes and that ripple design.

One of the best possible theories is that Zoro closes one eye just so he can control his "killing intent" much better since Pre-TS it was wild - kinda like Luffy's CotSK around then.

We already saw Mihawk, he has both his eyes. How about this crazy theory, Zoro's eye is closed because it's an injury from the training.

I still think it went like this:

Mihawk; You can't rely completely on your eyes. That could be a weakness. You have to be able to fight without your eyes.

Zoro: I understand. *cuts eye*

Mihawk: No, you fool! I was talking about Observation Haki!

Zoro: Oh. Damn.

It fits Zoro's personality trait of making hasty decisions.

If it were that simple, I don't understand why Oda wouldn't just tell us that's the case since it doesn't hold too much meaning.

Well, I can actually see this, and it would explain why he hasn't told anyone since he could be embarrassed of being an idiot. Additionally, it would be a much better reveal if Mihawk was the one who mocks his actions next time they meet where the SH's are present and they get a bigger laugh out of it. (xD)

If it was a baboons eye he may have the sharingan like ability of mimicry of the opposing technique. Meaning he could cut what he couldn't before or block attacks and track fast opponents etc. (very wild guess I know)

If that is true then Luffy needs a fourth gear

You retard. Law is an Ally ; not vice captain ; he has his own crew. Anyone is the Strawhat crew matters and if you disagree you are not a real fan on OP. NOW GTFO

The baboons' ability to copy traits of other animals is something created by their brain, not eyes.

A humans breathing pattern is controlled by the brain. But the lungs do the job. Each lung will have a different capacity.

Your point doesn't matter ; if the eye is designed to transmit information and memorize everthing like a sharingan then Zoro could inherit the baboons ability.

RL logic works in OP?

But you explained it in detail, whereas he didn't.
my point still stands ; i was mimicing his logic to show how stupid it was. His logic was incorrect anyways as a body is not biologically designed around the brain. The brain is designed through the process of evolution based on the environment and body etc. so the eye can still grant Zoro the powers I spoke of. Even if little RL logic exists within One Piece there is still evolutionary science involved. Arlong seemed to have a PhD in it...
