Zetsu's background

Until the advent of the current ninja war, what did Zetsu do? He collected information and delivered it, right? He's not really designed for fighting. My theory is that Zetsu is a former courier ninja:

It totally makes sense concerning his ability to accurately get info to anyone anywhere. Perhaps Tobi abducted a courier ninja and experimented on him with Senju cells, turning him into a plant man. Best thing Tobi's ever done.

As always, my theories are BS. Tell me what you think.

They're one person. Zetsu is like a sporulating mushroom where Black Zetsu is the main body and White Zetsus are the spores.

I didnt know that.I 've always thought that black zetsu was the original , and then Tobi added white zetsu from Hashi's cells.

Well, my theory has no concrete proof. Until Kishi reveals more, it's just the theory I operate under. It makes sense if you understand fungal physiology.

That's a great theory not sure many people thought of it, it makes perfect sense too which is great. Tobi could also of taken DNA from a courier ninja and used that much like what Orochimaru did with the curse mark.

I don't think so, the courier Ninja were in some filler episode, so they're not part of the "real" plot.

If that were true, Zetsu would be a lot more powerful. Also, if he already had Hashirama's DNA, why would Tobi have been injecting Hashi's DNA into Gedo Mazo to create a mindless clone when he could have just used Zetsu?

I'm sure Zetsu represents yin and yang. One is black and the other is white and they are both halves of each other. But they both have separate entities. If you notice, the black one has 3 red dots on his head and no mouth. If you look at their powers the go back and look at what the elder son and the older son powers represented then its pretty telling I guess.

White Zetsu(younger son) life force and physical energy.

Black Zetsu(Older son) mental and spiritual energy and powerful chakara. It probably explains why the black Zetsu can connect him self with the entire forest and become the land it self.
