So we know the origins of Zetsu (black and white) and have seen what he mostly did in his life.
I checked the internet, but couldn't find something immediatly, but I saw in a store some headbands and Zetsu seemed to have an affiliation with the hidden grass village. Some older forums (most recent one I found was in 2012) talked about him being from that village.
I'm just wondering, was he really? Or is this just a mistake that slipped in the universe but was never in the story? And if he was from that village, how did he get the headband and what is his connection to that village? 0_o

His affiliation was never mentioned in the manga and his origins were later revealed in the Boruto series.

It was also mentioned during the war too. They said white Zetsu's are people trapped in IT that had their chakra drained.

Tho it'll bring a question as to how did Sasuke kill the original WZ when they're all real Zetsu's.

I remember those thread and they were all speculations. Zetsu never had a headband when he was in akatsuki. A bunch of forum people made that up and speculated that Zetsu had the ability to use grass needles and trees to fight.

None of that being tree

Something similar is present among the six paths of pain. There is a grass village member in there ; Hungry ghost realm. Kishi took the effort to mention that path's origin. So it could link to zetsu linking to grass village which wouldve importance in the later part.

Well, this does clear up the mystery around the headband. Seems like they just did it for the sales then. You can actually buy the hidden grass village headband with his picture on the package wearing it lol

That picture doesn't really explain how Zetsu came to existence though. I always thought Madara created them out of the juubi's husk, slightly influenced and moved to that point by black zetsu, Kagura's last son. (Though I've always wondered how she gave birth to him or made him)
