Despite being only 18 years old, Zeref has the appearance of a young man. He wears high-collared red (black in the anime) and tan robes with gold trim, along with a large, flowing white toga draped around his torso. He has short black hair, dark eyes, and abnormally sharp canines. He also wears a circle-shaped necklace. When angered, Zeref's irises become red and gain a black ring around the pupil, giving him a much more menacing appearance.

Personality:
Zeref seeks to isolate himself and is very calm, sincere, and conflicted. He wishes to die to atone for all the sins he has committed, and may commit in the future. He is also somewhat emotionally fragile, as when he realizes that Natsu is not ready to kill him yet, he breaks down in tears. Zeref often kills with no prior incentive or knowledge. In spite of all this, Zeref is very vindictive, and will punish those who he believes to be evil. Zeref has developed a misanthropic loathing for humanity and its repeated idiosyncrasies of hate, evil, and conflict.

Chapter 1: Childhood
Zeref was born in Kirigakure, the village hidden in the mist. At the time of his birth, the Hidden Mist village was suffering due to its corrupted Mizukage. Furthermore, the villagers and citizens drove away aliens, including outsiders and shinobi with a bloodline trait. This of course included Zeref, who was a Dark Release user himself. The bloodshed started with one of the most common clans, the Yuki clan. Many died in battle, afraid to defend themselves since the consequences they would face would be the same as being caught. Because of this, his family and other clansmate were forced to reside in a mountain range, isolated and far away from the big cities. They spent about two years at the city, where they lived amongst many Dark Users. One day, they were discovered. A small regiment sent by the Mizukage appeared, marching with 1000 armed and dangerous men with one common goal: To cause the extinction of the Dark Release users. The men were forced to fight for the rest of the clan while the woman and children evacuated. Only Zeref's dad in his family fought, while his 6-year old brother and 7-year old sister, along with his mom abandoned the battlefield with a few other refugees. After months of traveling with the small groups of Dark users, they parted ways. Zeref's family headed towards the Village Hidden in the Leaf while the rest aimed towards the Hidden Rain, hearing rumours about the godly figure known as Pain that protected Amegakure. They arrived and were kindly welcomed; no discrimination were given because of the rare bloodline. Zeref's family lived happily together for another two years. His mother was a successful Medical ninja who worked alongside the ANBU while him and his siblings attended the University. However, they did not hear from Zeref's father after the battle in Kirigakure. Zeref knew he was dead, despite his mother fabricating a story to cover up the death of her husband. They eventually learned to move on to Konoha.
This impermanent happiness did not last very long. During the time of the 4th Hokage's reign, a beast called the Kyuubi attacked the village with an unknown Uchiha member. His mother was forced to fight alongside the other ANBU members and the 4th Hokage. That day was also his 7th birthday. He came home late from the academy. He expected a large crowd of people gathered around a chocolate cake, but instead, there was no one but his two siblings in the side, looking out the window with tears in their eyes. They informed Zeref of the current situation, about his mother fighting against the beast and how the beast was close by since their house was located near the village gates. He sprinted outside towards the mob of dead bodies that laid on the ground. Zeref searched thoroughly through each and every bloody body in the ground and confirmed that it was not his mother. He ran outside the forest, following some ninjas hoping that his mother would be there. He did not want to lose another parent, not after he lost his father. Zeref ran throughout the forest, rummaging through the pile of bodies, still in search for his mother. He looked back towards the forest, deciding whether or not to go deeper in. Before making his decision, he heard his mother's voice. "Get out of the way, Zeref!!!" Before he knew it, one of the tails of the 9-tails slammed into his little body, pushing him back deep into the forest. He was, once again, parted from his mother and siblings. Little did he know, his mother would die from the bloodshed caused by the 9-tails, and his two siblings would grow up to be a wonderful member of the ANBU Black ops.

Chapter 2: A New Life and a New Person
Zeref woke up, days after the incident in a small hut, deep inside the forests of Konoha. He investigated the place, and realized that no one was there for the time being. The only thing that stood out was a head band, a Kirigakure headband with a strike through it. He knew that it indicated a missing shinobi, and he was somehow saved by said missing nin. He exited the hut, finding the man nearby a small campfire. They talked and introduced each other; his name was Kanji and was a fellow Dark Release user. Kanji saved Zeref because he sensed the chakra of the bloodline limit, and knew that as a member of the clan, it was his duty to save him. Zeref shared his story to the man, and from then on, he trained under Kanji's guidance and honed his skills in the multiple elements he was capable of learning and other relevant Ninja techniques. Throughout the years of training under Kanji, hatred settled deep inside Zeref's heart. He could not stand the feeling of resentment and the idea that he was abandoned. The hatred completely changed him into a new person, he was not the sweet boy that once pleaded to get an extra minute to stay up, he was now a shinobi who had the intent to kill despite his opponent. Kanji also contributed to this trait, because Zeref looked up to him as a father figure he always wanted. Kanji would tell him stories of his escape from the Kirigakure jailhouse, and other barbaric actions he preformed which greatly influenced Zeref, though he was always denial when he thought about it to himself.
Once Zeref reached the age of 16, he was fairly proficient with some of the subjects his Master taught him. Adding onto that, Kanji pointed out that his skills has improved, therefore, they planned on heading to Amegakure to reunite with the other clansmate and receive protection from the godly figure known as Pain. They traveled for a good week, taking down bandits who mistook them and thought that they were helpless and fragile wanderers. Zeref, throughout the route to Ame, continued his training with Kanji. They took breaks from time to time, and at desperate moments, robbed small shops when they were in need for food. Upon reaching the Amegakurian gates, two figures stood before them- Pain and Konan. They were not what Zeref expected and he already sensed that Pain was suspicious of them. They were told to leave, before he kills Kanji and Zeref. However, the two stayed persistent and demanded entrance inside. Without hesitation, Pain and Konan attacked Kanji. Of course, Kanji had no chance against Pain. He commanded Zeref to run, run as far as he can while Kanji stalled the two monsters. Zeref did as he was told, running with tears in his eyes while looking back, watching his master die before his eyes. In turn, hatred developed into a new hatred, a hatred that seeked revenge for his loss, and a hatred that demanded human sacrifices for his contentment.

Chapter 3: Abduction and Returning Home
Zeref took weeks to recover from Kanji's death. During those weeks, he hardly ate and didn't even bother to train and enhance his skills further. This all changed when he came to a realization that training was a necessity, especially if he wanted to take revenge on Pain. Thus, he continued to train alone, back in the Konoha forest around Kanji's hut. He trained for months, up until his skills was recognizable. Especially to lunatics like Kabuto and Orochimaru, they saw right through his rare bloodline and Orochimaru, of course wanted it to himself. He was abducted by Kabuto and two other unidentified ninjas. Zeref would spend the next year, training at Orochimaru's hideout. At first, Orochimaru thought that he was a weakling and forced him to sign the Snake contract, making sure he had a form of defense when and if someone was to come and kidnap Zeref. Zeref did not need it but signed it nonetheless. During the year of his training in Orochimaru's hideout, he was not touched, harmed, or experimented on in any way. This was mainly because another bloodline caught Orochimaru's eyes, the Sharingan of an Uchiha. Sasuke Uchiha worked under Orochimaru at that time, so Orochimaru's attention was often fixated on Sasuke and his well being. Zeref took a great risk that paid off, he escaped from the hideout during the time when Team Yamato came to take back Sasuke. Orochimaru did not care, nor did he know because his attention was towards Sasuke. Zeref escaped without a trace, leaving no signs of his existence behind and hoping that Orochimaru would not hunt him down. Like his previous master, he aimed towards Amegakure.
Before setting out to Amegakure, Zeref decided on returning to Konoha in secret, to reassure himself that his family is alive and well. He spent a few weeks traveling by foot to reach the Konoha gates. However, he disregarded the fact that Konoha had an invincible barrier that detects any unusual presence within the vicinity. Thus, the shonobi and ANBU were sent out to look for Zeref. Meanwhile, Zeref took shelter in his old home, which is now abandoned and in bad condition. He concluded that his single parent and his two siblings were dead, and sneakily moved throughout Konoha in search of an exit. Zeref easily took down the two guards that guarded the northernmost wall. He leaped from tree to tree, escaping from the mob of shonobi that attempted to catch him. A few minutes after, he returned to the hut for the last time. In there, he encountered a group of ten ANBU members. Two of which was his siblings. He easily distinguished them by his older sisters birthmark, and his older brothers vernacular. However, his siblings did not recognize Zeref, and as proud members of the ANBU, they of course attempted to capture him and possibly kill him. Zeref took down five careless ANBU members who attempted to attack and was underestimating him. The rest that were still alive raised their guards, realizing the strength of Zeref. Zeref took down the two ANBU members, leaving him against his siblings. The battle continued for a few hours, ending with Zeref gaining the victory. He left and returned to his previous goal, Amegakure. He did not kill his siblings, but caused enough damage to land them in the hospital. Zeref left, without letting his siblings know his true identity.

Chapter 4: Joining Amegakure
Zeref was permitted to join the village hidden in the rain by the Kage at that time, Shinta. Pain was supposedly defeated by a ninja, which was a positive and a negative thing for Zeref. Negative because he wanted to kill him with his own hands, but positive because his teacher was finally avenged. Zeref currenty lives as an Amegakurian ninja, where he continues to train and become stronger.

Water Prowess
After spending his time in Amegakure, Zeref was able to master the water element. Having trained extensively with other water masters, Zeref became quite ferocious with it that he was able to perform all water jutsu that require handseals, with just one handseal. Though he was pretty skilled with water, he could not perform them without a water source like the legendary Tobirama Senju, who was said to be able to make water in areas not normally possible.
Wind Specialty
The Wind element is also an element Zeref was fond of. He trained almost as much as the amount he trained in water. Zeref performed wind techniques repeatedly, making sure he ends up with the best results. The outcome of his training is simple. He learned how to perform handseals for wind techniques faster then a normal/average shinobi is capable of performing.
Taijutsu Expertise
Zeref trained exclusively with his master; the missing ninja deep in the forests of Konoha. They often practiced hand-to-hand combat rather then elemental techniques, because his master felt that he lacked the skills and would most likely be defeated when Zeref's opponent would engage in a taijutsu battle. After years of training and learning how to fight with his fist, he grew to be quite good at taijutsu and engaged in hand-to-hand combat as if it was 2nd nature

Description: As we all know, the sage of the six paths carried a staff with him throughout his journeys around the Naruto World. Years and years after his death, an old clan, who in the present day remains unknown, attempted to recreate the staff of the Sage of the Six paths, hoping that it would bring about great power and luck. They tried creating a staff with a power that they imagined would match the Sage's staff, however, no one knew the extent of the Sage's prowess. They continued to experiment on the staff, adding this and that until they would eventually create a staff which they believe was powerful, but pale in comparison with the Sage's power. For years, they relied on the staff's power as military strength as well as the strength of their people. Years past and wars grew along with rebellion and power. The small clan was outnumbered and easily defeated by other clans. At that time, the few survivors of the battle knew they would soon die off along with their clan, and due to their extreme hate of the opposing clans, they hid away the weapon in a temple. It was later found by an old monk, who in turn, gave it to his disciple. The staff would go down many generations and in our current time, is now being held by EdwardSama. The staff itself is quite plain. It is about the size of the user and is treated like the same way the Sage held his staff, however, due to time differences, the clan could not exactly mimic the appearance of the staff.. It is made of durable petrified wood and is indestructible. The real power comes from the orb on the top of the staff. The user will channel their chakra on the staff and direct it on the orb, and based on the elemental chakra they decide on channeling into the orb, that is the type of abilities the staff would be able to perform. The staff's techniques are also quite simple, being able to send out offensive attacks of an element and break/defend against another element.
火遁Katon-
If the user decides on channeling katon, or fire chakra into their staff, the orb will glow with a blood red, like the color of a Sharingan. The user will be able to expel a ball of fire, the size of the users upper body. This ball of fire is counted as a B-ranked fire technique, meaning the damage of the ball of fire is the same damage as a normal B-ranked fire technique. In addition with the offensive use of the fire chakra, the user will be able to completely block any C-rank or lower fire technique by facing their staff towards the technique and use their chakra to split it in half, going to the left and the right.
水遁Suiton-
If the user decides to channel suiton, or water chakra into their staff, the orb will glow a bright blue. The user will use their chakra to expel a blast of pressurized water, about the size of the users upper body and attack their opponents with it. This counts as a B-ranked water technique as well. In addition with that, the user will be able to defend against any C-rank or lower water technique by simply facing the orb part of their staff towards the water technique and having it go to the left and side. (like the fire)
雷遁Raiton-
If the user decides to channel lightning chakra into the orb, it will glow yellow. The user will be able to send out a small spear of lightning that has the same damage as a normal B-ranked lightning technique. The user will also be able to redirect any lightning technique C-rank or lower from the opponent by having the orb part of the staff face the lightning technique
風遁Fuuton-
The user will channel their wind chakra into the staff and the orb of the staff will glow a very light green. With the wind chakra in the orb, the user will be able to expel a blade of wind about 2 feet and will count as a B-ranked wind technique based on damage. Furthermore, they will be able to block wind techniques C-rank or lower by using the orb of the staff to split the wind technique into two halves, one going to the left and one going to the right.
土遁Doton-
The user, when channeling doton chakra into the staff, will have the orb of their staff glow brown. The offensive technique of the earth chakra will be the ability to form a fist made of earth that is as tall as the user by using the ground surrounding the user. The fist will attack the opponent, and of course, the technique is counted for a B-rank earth technique. They will also be able to split C-rank or lower earth techniques by using the doton chakra-filled orb and splitting the particles of the earth.
Notes and Restrictions:
◊ The user can only perform the offensive techniques up to (4) times with a (1) turn cooldown to use any of the staff's techniques again.
◊ The user can only perform the defensive techniques up to (3) times with a (1) turn cooldown to use any of the staff's techniques again.
◊ The offensive techniques are formed one inch in front of the orb.

◊ Just because it is indestructible, does not mean it can be used as an excuse to defend against things. Say for example, X person uses Z earth technique, you cannot say "I take my staff and use it as a shield" However, you can use the staff itself for defense up to some extent, like weaponry that does not require any elements or smaller scaled and lower ranking elemental techniques. (Tai and kenjutsu included.)

If the user decides to channel lightning chakra into the orb, it will glow yellow. The user will be able to send out a small spear of lightning that has the same damage as a normal B-ranked lightning technique. The user will also be able to redirect any lightning technique C-rank or lower from the opponent by having the orb part of the staff face the lightning technique
風遁Fuuton-

The user will channel their wind chakra into the staff and the orb of the staff will glow a very light green. With the wind chakra in the orb, the user will be able to expel a blade of wind about 2 feet and will count as a B-ranked wind technique based on damage. Furthermore, they will be able to block wind techniques C-rank or lower by using the orb of the staff to split the wind technique into two halves, one going to the left and one going to the right.
土遁Doton-

The user, when channeling doton chakra into the staff, will have the orb of their staff glow brown. The offensive technique of the earth chakra will be the ability to form a fist made of earth that is as tall as the user by using the ground surrounding the user. The fist will attack the opponent, and of course, the technique is counted for a B-rank earth technique. They will also be able to split C-rank or lower earth techniques by using the doton chakra-filled orb and splitting the particles of the earth.

Notes and Restrictions:
◊ The user can only perform the offensive techniques up to (4) times with a (1) turn cooldown to use any of the staff's techniques again.
◊ The user can only perform the defensive techniques up to (3) times with a (1) turn cooldown to use any of the staff's techniques again.
◊ The offensive techniques are formed one inch in front of the orb.
◊ Can only be taught by EdwardSama
◊ Each technique can only extend/reach up to Mid-range
◊ Just because it is indestructible, does not mean it can be used as an excuse to defend against things. Say for example, X person uses Z earth technique, you cannot say "I take my staff and use it as a shield" However, you can use the staff itself for defense up to some extent, like weaponry that does not require any elements or smaller scaled and lower ranking elemental techniques. (Tai and kenjutsu included.)
