Well Earth release is somewhat versatile in its uses. It has high defensive and support capabilities with splashes of offensive. It can be used to manipulate the earth into various forms, ie tunnels, domes, swamps and ravines etcAll good my friend!
So tell me what you know about Earth Release! Can you tell me any famous or well known users from the series?
What are Earth's strengths and weaknesses?
Im not 100% sure who was famous users in the actual series, like which characters were established as famous for their use of it, but well known users, include Jiraiya, Hiruzen Sarutobi, Oonoki the Tsuchikage (really anyone from the Stone village that werent fodder characters)
Earth is strong to water release and is weak to lightning release. Its strong against water i assume because it can contain, contaminate the water ie turning a body of water to mud or something? Its weak against lightning because electricity in general i think has vibrative qualities which break down the minerals within the earth making it very brittle?

Earth is a solid and as such is quite rigid in its structure. What this means is that while ninjutsu like fire and lightning are 'energy' based, meaning that theyre entirely comprised of chakra. Earth itself, if it has its chakra absorbed, still has the earthen solid shell left over.

(Doton no Jutsu) - Earth Release Technique

Description: The user, emerging from the ground below the target area, pulls down the opponent so that only their head is above ground. Unable to move, the opponent can easily be decapitated or tortured.

Description: This technique allows the user to take a small chunk of rock and turn it into the shape of a staff. The user can then use it as a melee weapon or throw it with pinpoint accuracy at their opponent. (Doton no Jutsu) - Earth Release Technique - Being one of the basics for the earth jutsu this one seems pretty simple to apply. it creates a variety of different things as described that can be used. shields would work for blocking the basic ninja tools, you can use it to throw your opponent off balance by creating a pillar under their feet. or launch yourself out of the course of an attack.
(Doton: Shinju Zanshu no Jutsu) - Earth Release: Double Suicide Decapitation Technique - Having the pre-requisite of being underground puts this technique at a disadvantage as you will need to know that other technique before you can use this one, big weakness in my eyes but it doesnt have much else really applicable besides restraining the opponent, who may have access to the hiding like a mole technique themselves and easily able to escape before they get finished off. In the roleplay side of things it works better for story purposes.
(Doton: Gansetsukon) - Earth Release: Rock Section Cane - Another technique that would have more value in a roleplay sense and story purposes. it has its uses in battle as well as you can create a weapon to use if you are in close combat or can use it as a diversionary tactic as sending projectiles is a good distraction.

Description: The user expels a retractable cord of mud in the shape of an elongated tongue from their mouth. Its adhesive and retractive ability allow it to stick to objects and pull them towards the user or it can be used to pull the user towards another person. However, its main purpose is to attach to any part of the terrain which is in range and pull the user to the desired location extremely quickly. It can also be used in quick succession to travel from one place to another.

(Doton: Iwa Rendan) - Earth Release: Rock Barrage - This one is pretty simple as it is a ranged technique, though you could use it in close combat to add some extra damage to a strike. Does the ring of rocks materialize from the chakra or does it form there from existing rock?
(Doton: Hedoro no Kouzetsu) - Earth Release : Slime Ensnaring Tongue - This seems like an Orochimaru inspired technique just without the flexibilty of movement and is more of a grappling hook kind of deal? Is this justu just a single time use or can it be once you use it your able to shoot the tongue out for the next 3 turns? Good for avoiding incoming attacks and getting in close to your opponent.
its a bit of freeform creativity here but you could form like a bracelet of rocks which are then flung towards the opponent
The technique itself lasts from your mouth for 3 turns. So if you use it to attach to a tree, as long as its connected to your mouth that string will last for 3 turns. Should you disconnect it and use another one, then the timer resets.

While underground one can sense what is happening on the surface and use the information to launch a surprise attack on the enemy. Once can also hide deep in the ground, escaping to a depth where the enemy cant reach. It also appears that after digging, the ground can be returned to its original state, leaving no trace of where the user entered the earth. While inside the earth, the user cannot make handseals and can only use Earth techniques below C-Rank. If he tries to do a higher ranked technique, he'll disrupt the Hiding like a mole technique and be left crushed.

This jutsu creates two slabs of earth that rise up around the opponent to try and crush them. alternative uses can be for a cover, you can use it on either side of them or in front and behind them to block their view of you. can also be a multi-layer wall in front of you to block a technique. provided it isnt a lightning based technique.
(Doton: Moguragakure no Jutsu) – Earth Release: Hiding Like A Mole Technique
So you convert the earth into sand which makes it easier for the user to dig their way into the earth. which can then be used to keep track of your opponents movements and set up other techniques below a certain rank. if an opponent has an earth technique that can cause earthquakes or alter terrain including underground, then your pretty much crushed

This creates earth spikes that can be used a variety of ways. Primary purpose is to attempt to skewer your opponent, they can also be used to trap the opponent if they are knocked prone or surrounded by earth, the spikes can be used to hold a person by piercing selective locations such as the hands/arms and legs etc.
