Well, from what I learned from Vex's thread, off the top of my head, I know that sound on the base is a mix of lightning and wind, and is regarded as a special ability. It can be used to disorient people, released as powerful attacks, or to trigger Genjutsu. Through sound release, one can release sound waves into mediums ranging from; the ground, water, air, etc. There are 3 main types of sound waves able to be utilized with this art. Destructive sound waves, hindering sound waves, and genjutsu based sound waves.
The funny thing about sound is that the higher the frequency, the lower the energy, so low frequency sound is considered as the most dangerous and destructive. Although incapable of causing damage, high frequency sound moves like actual sound and can be considered instant making it a pain to defend against.

But of course. The special ability sound is mainly weak to the wind element due to the fact that it disrupts the movement of sound propagation while creating "noise". Sound can also be defended against by means of blocking the waves and its propagation via other means, but any other way but wind to counter may be tricky since sound has many mediums of travel which can be seen as its advantage. (Ex. earth, water, air, etc.) Id say water and earth may be the worsts ways to counter sound bcz of how they aid the propagate of the element. But this doesnt generally mean that they cant be used to defend against it.

Okay good. Nice analysis.

SO the basic of them, I want you to mold your sound chakra and then channel them into yor ears to enhance your hearing. then use chakra to enhance your lung so that you have control over your own breathing, then with your enhance hearing, you should be able to hear your breathing bounce off objects around you. This would be useful to sense things that your eyes are unable to see.
Now try it while closing your eyes and detect and evade my attack without using your eyes.

Then, by utilizing chakra and enfacing his lungs, the user will be able to control the frequency and intensity of the sound emitted from his simple breathing. This low frequency, inaudible sound is passively emitted and has no effect other than emerging from him and bouncing off of objects. Using the enhanced hearing, the user is able to know where everything is around them, effectively creating a sonar effect through the rebound and reflection of sound waves. The hearing and the sonar effect is precise enough so that one can effectively use it to substitute one's vision in battle if needed. Despite being very effective, specially if the user has any of his other senses hindered, it also leaves the user vulnerable to sound genjutsu or sound attacks which will be much more drastic in its effects.

Ok cool! Its a very nice tech but it leaves sound users susceptible to sound users in battle. This will come in handy for me though. I say before closing my eyes allowing me to concentrate even further. Channeling my sound chakra towards my ears, I enhance my hearing, while also channel the sound chakra into my lungs specializing my breathing to a degree that it allows me to act as a sonar device. Feeling the movement of the kunai I simply turn my body 90 degrees to the right while leaping backwards allowing me to dodge the projectile. I then open back up my eyes.

(Ototon: Chūnyū no Jutsu) - Sound Release: Infusion Technique

Description: A simple technique where the user touches an object and infuses it with sound chakra, enabling it to vibrate and produce a low frequency, high amplitude sound. The vibrations cause objects to bounce off of the targeted object which is highly useful when fighting with weapons or to make thrown basic weapons resist opposing thrown weapons.. It also resonates to the user if he were to be blind (because of a genjutsu for example), letting the the user know the objects position and what it deflects. It can also be applied to solid objects or structures the user may wish to destroy or, by applying it to the ground or similar, detect what is around him by making it resonate with the same low frequency. The object gets no added power, only the ability to deflect incoming objects that want to counter it.

This one is useful for weapon plays. You will touch a weapon and infuse it with you sound chakra making it vibrate with a low frequency sound that other object projectile touching it would be repelled away. You can also use it to destroy weak solid structures.

You will charge sound chakra into your palms and clap. Then via the clap, you release the stored sound wave as a high frequency wave to disperse solid structures or jutsus.

Looking to my left I see a 1m stone formation protruding from the ground and I make my way over to it. Molding sound chakra in my hand I touch the stone before releasing the built up chakra into it causing it to crumble into pieces as the sound waves ruptures it from within.

This is a very cool technique and I think it would be an awesome combo with the multi shadow shuriken tech. If I performed this technique on a kunai before waving the hand seals for the multi shadow shuriken jutsu then I would be able to create a massive wall of kunai that not only gives me additional sights of the field, but also gives my target trouble in countering due to this supplementary feat.


Channeling a large amount of sound chakra into both hands I gauge up a tree to the side of me before running towards it. Clapping both hands once in range I release a high frequency sound that begins to violently shake the tree leading to it bursting into pieces.

This jutsu will be very handy for me because I like water and its weak to earth but with this jutsu I now have another means to counter the element. I think I can see myself using this on other solid elements as well, like ice for example.

(Ototon: Oto no Ken) - Sound Release: Sonic Fist

Description: The user gathers chakra either around their fist, arm, or leg and then charges towards their opponent. Upon utilizing an attack involving the aforementioned limb, it causes a release of sonic vibrations (of a low frequency but with a high amplitude) that act as a secondary strike, making the opponent unable to use the body part that has been hit for 1 turn. This happens because the sound vibrations damage soft tissue by resonating within the water molecules that reside within it. The effect is similar to a localized explosion upon contact that rips through the targeted area and creates a shockwave that blasts the target backwards. The skill is exceptionally useful if used against solid techniques such as those from Earth Release (or similar) which will shatter upon being hit.

This one allows you to focus chakra into one of your limb and upon hitting a target with it, you also release a low frequency but high amplitude sonic vibration that cause the affected area to be paralysed for a turn.

You focus sound chakra into your vocal chords and yell releasing a shockwave of low frequency sound wave that levels things standing on its way.

Running towards a tree I mold sound chakra in my leg before jumping towards the target within range. Performing a sidekick to the thickest part of the bark on the tree, a large shockwave follows as the sound vibrations propagate through its insides ripping it apart while blasting the debris in the direction following the trajectory of the kick.

Of course I would combine this with basic taijutsu for deadlier techniques, and i'm glad on a whole cause no I can use this to fight earth release techniques.

Landing I then look into the grove of trees behind the one I just assaulted and then smirk. Molding sound chakra into my lungs I release a large scream of low frequency sound waves resulting in the spread of a massive destructive blast leveling everything in its path.

I love this jutsu because it shows me that I can use sound and water for massive attacks due to the fact that water helps its propagation. I can use a technique like this after the A ranked water explosion wave after forming the dome.

Description: The user charges Ototon chakra into his hands and snaps his fingers, triggering a genjutsu through the emission of high frequency sound waves. As he snaps, the sound is amplified, sounding as if it is directly by the enemy's ear. To them, it sounds as if something has just snapped in half. The user then manipulates the illusion to make it appear as if either a large branch has fallen from a tree or the ground under them has broken clean in half, causing the target to believe they are falling through the earth or have been struck with a large object, pushing them to the earth. The user has control over the illusion, being able to make it seem as if entire trees have been snapped in half, falling on the target or as if an earth structure has collapsed either above or beneath the opponent, etc. The illusion can be edited to fit the situation and even the sound can be slightly altered deepening on the object that is "snapped". Is more effective depending upon the terrain this is used in ( extremely effective in a forest, not effective in a desert ).

This one is a genjutsu that is induced to the target through sound. You charge sound chakra into you hands and snap your fingers to release a high frequency sound wave that upon hearing, induces the target(s) in an illusion where according to your manipulation, It would appear as if something has snapped. it might be from above or below so it is up to you to fine tune the genjutsu to your taste. Use this on my clone and you can combine it with other moves to have a finishing effect or a sort of build up.

Description: The user gathers Ototon chakra in his vocal chords. He then whistles, releasing a high frequency sound wave, creating a sound similar to a faint buzzing in the target's ear, similar to Ringing Madness. However, instead of causing a foe to become disoriented, it impairs his hearing, making the buzzing the only thing that he can hear, seeming as if the target has bees swimming around his ear. The buzzing drowns any sound out, unless they are exceptionally loud (i.e. great explosions, one yelling directly into the target's ear, etc), making it very difficult for the target to hear incoming jutsus or attacks.
Note: Hearing impairment lasts 3 turns

This one is not a genjutsu but one of the high frequency supplementary and hinderin sound jutsu. By charing chakra into your vocal chords, you bein to whistle and let make the whistling sound the only thing your target continues to hear as it continues to resonate in his ears.

Focusing on your clone I snap my fingers making a sort of "crunch" sound that triggers an illusion on your clone making it seem as if the ground has opened beneath them, sending them into a dark pit which seems endless. In reality the clone acts out the motions of falling same as in the illusion and is left vulnerable as it squirms around on the floor and I throw a kunai making it disperse.

This sound gen is awesome because of its speed and range. It leaves the opponent susceptible and on the ground so it would be a clean shot to follow up with earth techniques like SoU.

Focusing on your other clone as I mold sound chakra in my throat, I ready myself before letting out a quick whistle that begins to make the clone move awkwardly as it becomes distraught from the seemingly loud buzzing within its ears. I then follow up by creating a miniature near invisible tornado of wind just outside of short range above the target that shoots forwards at great speeds towards the clone's head. Being an assassination technique, the only weakness to this jutsu was the fact that it lets out a noise once in range but now that the clone is deaf it is left vulnerable to the wind jutsu.

Just like my example I would follow up with my wind cj eye of the storm which I think you have as well.

I have a question. See if I was fighting an enemy with a clone present on the field. Could these sound jutsu be used on both enemies with one usage?

Yes, its sound, anyone apart from you who hears it in the surrounding would be affected, though there is this debate that wether it would also affect your allies on the field and was resolved that you have control over who it affect and whatnot.

Description: Similar to the (Ototon: Hibiki Rendan no Jutsu) - Sound Release: Echo Assault Skill, the user concentrates chakra into their vocal cords, amplifying his/her voice and lets out a scream, roar or a yell. The effect is a large emission of low frequency, high amplitude sound waves but instead of a forward attack, its manipulated into an omnidirectional sound blast that expands outwards all around the user, pushing attacks and enemies backwards with might.

This one makes you concentrate chakra into your throat and scream like that od the echo assault skill. You would be release a low frequency sound wave though in an omnidirectional wave that reaches to the edge of short range from you.

Closing my eyes I focus a good amount of sound chakra in my vocals before pumping my fists to the side of me and yelling at the top of my lungs as if I was powering up in a dbzverse. Releasing the molded sound chakra as low frequency waves along with the yelling I end up creating a destructive wave of sound that propagates in an omnidirectional manner away from me pushing back debris while stirring up debris in the area.

A great swift defense that covers all angles around the user making it a suitable counter defense to many techniques. I like this tech because the destructive waves carry a physical force although it is an energy based element like wind. The quickness of how one can get this technique off will be useful as well when defending against swift techniques also.

Unlike its weaker technique, the massive power it carries makes it slightly slower, equal to an average equally ranked Raiton technique. Unlike the unfocused nature of its weaker version, its focused almost like a beam, affecting an area of 50º in front of the user. If used within a water source it receives +20 damage.

A stronger yet focus version of the echo assault. It takes less area than the former and stronger. Lemme see this combined with another technique of your choosen

Slamming my hands on the ground I summon a large amount of water 5m above us that begins to cascade 5m in front of me. All the while I take a deep breath before releasing a condensed wave of sound so focused it resembles a beam of sound which strengthens within the water.


Focusing sound chakra to my hands, both with a different frequency, I then slam my hands together releasing a large wave of destructive sound covering a wide radius.

This can also be used to destroy oncoming techniques the user faces.

Six of my clones would clad themselves in earth armor(B-rank) and would surround you from all sides. They would each form a gigantic fish which the launch at the same time towards you to crush you in the middle.

Description: The user charges Ototon chakra into their feet
as they run, releasing it as each foot hits the earth and
makes sound. As each steps sound off, low frequency waves

their bodies lose balance as the waves collide with the target
repeatedly. As the waves continue to hit the target, the
vibrations increase and cause internal pain, almost as if
each wave is drilling into the target's body, causing the
target to also become nauseous from the continuous waves.
Despite its danger, the technique can easily be defended by
simply severing ones contact with the ground.

By running, you'll send sound waves into the ground that would resonate through the body of whoever is standing on the ground. This would cause them great pain and nausea.

Bring it on clones!

As the clones begin to cover themselves in their armors of earth I decide to act swift and bring the fight to them as they begin to surround me. Charging forwards my aim was at the clone straight in front of me, although the attack would happen long before I reach my mark, for with each advancing step I take a powerful omnidirectional wave of sound is released into the ground spreading outwards and into my surrounding foes. This weakens their earth defenses allowing me to easily evade and counter with basic taijutsu in order to add a little pzazz to the onslaught. The clones were ended with a series of various kicks and punches as I seemingly danced around them.

Also a good means to separate earth users from the ground.

Very good technique usage, Priest thought. Priest would remove another scroll from under his sleeve and hurl it toward his student to read and understand. He would even give a sample performance so that the student has a broader view of what he's about to do. However, Priest would send 3 clones towards him once he is ready. The clones would flicker and would be at striking range in a blink, making the student to hasten his plan and make him think on his feet. They would all at the same time lunge a braced elbow towards the student's mid section.

The instructions written in the scroll is a straight forward, sound manipulation trick. The student only needs to focus sound chakra into any of his limbs and through contact with a target, release the sound chakra as wither low frequency wave or high frequency wave. Depending on the type of wave, it either do blunt external damage or internal damage.

vibrations don't produce any external effect, unlike what
happens with (Ototon: Oto no Ken) - Sound Release: Sonic
Fist technique, instead propagating into whatever is touched
through direct contact. The user is free in which moves he
will perform and can use virtually any stance he knows.
However, because it produces no externalization of the
vibrations, as the limbs are only infused with sound chakra
and the vibrations happen in what is hit, the user cannot
attack or defend from things that would otherwise hurt him
like bladed weapons, etc
