Look at the middle of that scan. It is clear that ~13 bones appear all in that moment as they all have the earth exploding around them in the same way.

Learn to read kid. If the bones growed like that then Lee would've been pierced as soon as the first bone came out. They grow from the center (Kimmimaro) to the outside like an explosion's wave. From the first bone that comes out (right in front to kimmi) to the bones that reach Zabuza's location, there's a time gap (which was enough for Gaara's sand to reach Lee and save him). So zabuza has enough time to sunshin and find a blind spot. Unless one of the bones impale him, Zabuza is still in combat.

On that same scan it's showed that (in the middle panel) the bone that is closer to Kimm (on the right) is already tall enough to not see it's tip, while the one that's closer to lee (the one of the left) is just getting out since we can see it's tip. The ones closer to kimmi came out earlier.

And i know they grow fast. But not fast enough to outspeed Gaara's sand, which by that time was not faster than Zabuza, who's faster than kid rock lee.

You're right, it didn't outspeed Gaara. but the rest you have no proof of.
