There's no such thing as a "real ninja".

Real shinobi were well versed in different combat styles, and in overt and covert missions. The common idea of a guy dressed in black and slitting people's throats in the dead of night is very movie-ish.

Real Ninjas were not usually deployed to assassinate people at all. They were more like spies sent to gather information, they wore blue and were experts at hiding and escaping. Killing was more of a Samurai deal.
