I don't think it was that simple for Kakashi at the time (when Kamui was limited for a reason/prep chakra build). He had a chance to do it to Hidan when Hidan was shadow possessed and yet relied on Raikiri instead:

Yeah when he was shadow possessed.... There was no need for him to waste a lot more chakra to beat Hidan when Hidan was under the shadow possession jutsu. If he wasn't then he would have probably.

That could have been too far for him. He hadn't shown to use it proficiently at a distance at that time. If it was just him and Hidan, he could just use Shadow Clones OR BETTER YET, use RATON CLONE feints and stun Hidan for he can't move then Kamui him up close because it'll be easy to hit a close barely moving target.

Hidan has no chance in beating Kakashi, and that should be clear.
