I find it weird no one really talks about the manga hmm from what I hear it's freakin' violent as all hell and just 100x better than the anime well the anime we got over here in America which was censored by 4Kids *shudders* I'm going to start buying the manga because frankly Yu-Gi-Oh kicks ass and is the only card game I'll ever even look at.

No wonder you think manga>anime, you've only heard the 4kids dub. They butchered the living f*ck out of Yugioh's voices. Watch the subbed, the manga still may be better but the subbed is better than the dubbed by a long shot.

I read marik kills his father by skinning him in the manga. Also the anime just cut a lot of good shit. There were a few guns being pointed at heads that got edited out.

I figured. I been wanting to watch the sub of Yu-Gi-Oh for the longest, but haven't gotten around to it. I can't wait to experience it without crappy voices or censored material. When it comes to manga I generally choose it over any anime so Yu-Gi-Oh shouldn't be any different I think.

It's not "violent as hell," but it was definitely aimed at a older age group. Yami Yugi set a man on fire, and his "mind games" we're pretty ****ed up; mostly hospitalizing people or something that would have a permanent effect on their mentality (I think one guy was forced to constantly see money everywhere because he was money greedy, which made him look crazy to others if I recall)

And sure, Kaiba's Kaibaland was a deathtrap to kill Yugi and friends

But it wasn't a whole lot of violence.

Okay yeah I over-exaggerated there Lol but wow! This is like a whole brand new world when it comes to this series for me. I didn't know it was censored until I was like 16 and found out how 4Kids butcher anime to where it wasn't watchable (One Piece)

Well what I described was still manga only. The anime made it a whole new series pretty much.

The manga has very little card games. They play it a couple times in the beginning, then it turns into a psychological type of manga with Yami Yugi's power of never losing a game (King of Games, *****)

Then of course Yugi and Kaiba have their duel where he uses mind crush on Kaiba to make him not an evil **** (this kinda happened in the anime)

Soon after that, Bakura steps into play and it involves an RPG styled board game. After that, either the manga ended or I stopped reading, don't remember.

There is another YGO manga series based on the anime I think though. Never read it.

I grew up watching the animes 4Kids edited, I didn't know any better till' now :'(
Oh, I didn't mean to sound harsh. Its just that 4kids censors blood, and etc and cuts a lot out. Like said above they used guns in the manga sometimes. Its a real letdown when you find out you've been missing out on some moments.

Yeah 4kids destroyed anime for older kids.

This is the biggest reason One Piece isn't as viewed in the U.S. as it is practically everywhere else.

4kids made One Piece so child friendly it was unbearable to watch by anyone older than 10. Then it only started airing at night which made the older kids who stayed up during that time go wtf is this?

Maybe 4kids only gets things to work if it involves a card game (Pokemon, Yu Gi Oh, Digimon, etc...).

Manga tends to leave things uncensored, and even in Naruto, there are things that were censored in the anime. The biggest one that comes to mind is Shikamaru's underage smoking.

If you want the full uncensored version, always stick to the manga.

This is why I always choose manga over anime.

Yeah especially when those moments are pretty important parts of the story.

I've read the manga, it is similar, but the stories take different directions in the manga compared to their anime counterparts. Yugioh gets pretty dark to the end of GX, there are some dark things here and there in the original. Towards the end of GX is as dark as it got, and there were references of death, religion and other things.

References of death? In the original YGO, there was death. That's why the anime was so completely different.

Like, in Kaiba's Kaibaland, one of the "attractions" was that Joey (called Juzou I think?) was chained to this statue in the middle of a room and so was a murderer (based on Texas Chainsaw Massacre's Leatherface) and they had to fight to the death. I think Joey ended up setting the guy on fire or some shit I can't remember how he won.

Another attraction was they were all strapped to electric chairs and had to ride a scary ride, and if they screamed they were killed. The guy who worked for Kaiba who made the attraction also rose the ride to make it seem fair and he ended up dying because Tristan's(called Honda) baby nephew was with them (the baby was a huge pervert always grabbing Tea's boobs) went on the guy's lap and took a crap on him, causing him to scream and die.
