Why do you think deidara joined the Akatsuki?

I think he left his village because he was an annoying child who didn't get any respect from the villagers <-- Kinda like Naruto..

He was dangerous, got involved in terrorist activities, got kicked out of the village, and then got challenged by Itachi. He wanted a rematch with Itachi, so he joined Akatsuki.

here is why I think Deidara left the village.
My guess is because Deidara wasent able to "express" his art to its fullest extent being in that village perhaps something happend that led him to believe he was being held back.

And Deidara's reason for joining Akatsuki is because he wanted to learn more about Itachi so he could come up with a counter for his genjutsu so he would challenge him to a rematch.

Well he had a match with Itachi so the deal was if Itachi wins he will join the Akatsuki and so he lost.

Deidara joined the akatsuki because he got owned by Itachi. They basically had a battle and the conditions were that if Itachi won Deidara must join the akatsuki and Itachi basically won in 1 second.
