The God tree concept was something I did not expect. The knowledge that Madara dropped on us in the last chapter definitely changed my whole perception of the chapter in the following ways:

Initially I had thought that possibly the sage was an Uzumaki, since he had the Rinnegan, that comes from both Senju and Uchiha blood. But now he's a completely different person from the ladder three. That either means, his sons took their mother's' names, or that their names were actually, Senju and Uchiha (very unlikely but not impossible).

The Senju were just explained a little more in terms of their powers and being called, the Senju "Of the Forest" and Hashirama's wood-style. Their powers relate to the physical essence of the tree, while the Uchiha on the other hand, represent the Shinju's ability to sense chakra and cast this "Great Genjutsu" Madara spoke of. The tree also gains the infamous eyes somehow.

The Tree's eye didn't become visible until after someone took its fruit. What does this mean, I wonder? What is the correlation between the missing fruit and the Sharingan/Rinnegan?

Ultimately, my perception has shifted back in favor of Madara's plight. From the beginning, the Uchiha clan, Madara especially have been praised for their Genius, We see this most prevalent in Itachi's vast knowledge, Sasuke's drive to obtain knowledge, and Madara's combination of both.

Maybe the fruit (assuming there is some religious allusion present) represents knowledge and becoming more powerful. Some one took this fruit, then the eye sprouted to seek its lost knowledge.

This is just some random thoughts I had, what do you guys think about where the series is going from here?
