That is difficult...we discussed something similar to this before, and those types of people are the sole monkey wrenches in my hope for what the world could be (or something like that). I don't know if I could go through with it, and it makes me sick to even imagine, but my first thought would be that the easiest solution is to...eliminate them :/

They are just too dangerous (that's not the right word but I can't think right now). :(

That's a fine line legally taking the life of someone who illegally took a life (or committed some other atrocity).

That would be a really sad thing to know. Psychopaths are ill, so I think the best way to help them is to put them in a mental health institution.

Most psychiatric facilities are acute (3-5 days). Honestly most sociopaths/psychopaths are in jail, because when they are admitted to a psychiatric facility we treat em and street em as fast as we can. You can put them in a forensic psychiatric hospital, but by then they've already done something terrible. I've been in forensic psych units, a lot of people would rather be in jail; either in seclusion or in population.

Well if that's the case then I think it is better for them to be in jail, it's the safest place for them and for everyone. The main priority for psychopaths is to keep them away from harming anyone.

I wouldn't care. It would be ignorant of me to assume in the first place that no one close to me might be a psychopath. And psychopaths aren't murderers by default, and many murderers are not psychopaths. Calculating danger level would be no different from a non-psychopath because both have the potential to cause me harm.
Then if the psychopath is someone close to me, I should additionally not have cause to worry: intelligent psychopaths are not people who want to go to jail. A crime, if one were inclined to commit a crime, would need to be carefully calculated. Violent psychopaths tend to harm those distant from themselves because they do not want to be associated with the crime, but violent sociopaths are more prone to hurting those close to them. A close sociopath would be more cause for concern to me.
I hate that people classify it as a mental illness. It's just a personality trait factor.

Unless you're a psychopath or a sociopath I don't think it's that easy to stop caring about a loved one.

You can get to the point in life where you learn to be able control emotion to the point it can be shut off for a period of time or used to cut ties in order to stop the incoming of other's toxicity. You know how the old saying goes "there's no point crying over spilt milk."

Yeah, it's called being dead inside, just kidding. A lot of trauma can also lead to non-sociopathic people feeling numb. Depression can also have that same effect. Being emotionless isn't really a criteria as much as inability to empathize and relate to people. Many sociopaths experience intense emotion; they just can't relate what they feel to others.

I would distance my self more from anyone if I found them they are manipulative and not get the feels when I make them watch my anime collection.

I would care about them the same way but sadly they need help so I'll have to send them to a mental institution for treatments .

According to my psychologist, I am a psychopath myself (I call BS though), but I am attached to a few select people (I completely disregard the rest, sometimes disgust, and not all of my family is part of this "few select people"), and I don't have any intent of murdering or harming any of them, so I don't see why they would/should feel threatened by me (but I still have to admit that I had the urge to kill anyone who ever bothered me in the slightest, but I always let it go because I have no means to go through with it), although I like to keep that secret a secret just in case. But no, I don't feel any empathy for anyone, including the aforementioned "few select people".

Maybe I'm not a "complete" psychopath...? Or the psychologist was high? Or this article is wrong in some parts? Idk.

First off, i would like to kmow how your psychologist got his degree and what tests he did to diagnose you. By the assessment you presented of yourself, you are not a psychopath, just apathetic.

Ok, some people are getting confused with psychopathy. You cannot be a little, sometimes or an incomplete psychopath.

A psychopath cannot feel or comprehend human emotions. They have no conscious just logical thinking on their self worth. Those of you who are saying "i am a little psychopathic". You are not - you are just apathetic (you show little to no interest, emotions or concern to certain situations, but if your mum died, you will cry and feel sad).

I hope that clarifies those using webMD for psychological diagnosis.
