I've seen a few threads on the topic of "-User 1-'s top 10 movies" or "My top movies", so I figured instead of spamming threads on the same topic, why not make one for all. As the topic says just share with us your favourite movies. Doesn't have to be a top 10 or anything. Just a list of a few most favourite movies or movie series.
That said here's my top 5 favourite movies/movie franchises:
5. DC Extended Universe (DCEU)
I like DC. I like DC characteres. Naturally, I like movies that explore those DC characters - hence I like DC movies. While the movie universe is still young and just beginning (and going through a rough start), I fairly enjoyed the take on the classic and most popular super heroes of all time. Only time will tell how the movie universe is gonna end up looking, and will it stay a favourite of mine, but for now, I'm fairly enjoying the dark and gritty approach to the super hero genre in contrast to Marvel's lighter approach. Speaking of Marvel...
4. Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)
Ok, I'll admit it. I'm a super hero fan. Most of the movies I watch are super hero movies. There, you know my sin. That said, if not for Marvel, I doubt I'd ever be this much into them. Phase 1 was great, Phase 2 stepped it up and Phase 3 looks like it's gonna rock. Either way, Marvel has yet to release a bad movie. Sure a few of them left me disappointed, but it can't overshadow the fact that it's a great movie series indeed.
3. The Dark Knight Triology (TDK)
Oh, where do I begin. These are by far THE BEST super hero movies ever. And that's not an overstatement. When you have Christopher Nolan gather amazing actors for a movie triology about one of the most iconic superheroes ever and ground it in pure practicality and realism, suspending only minimal disbelief, you get this. Amazing, intense, complex and stunning action-drama triology that will make even the most clueless find some interest in the character.
2. Jurrassic Park (JP)
Finally! No superheroes! This one goes waaaay back from my childhood. I still remember it clearly, the first time I watched it. The thrills, the joy of seeing those dinos (I was a dino nerd back then) come to life was amazing. Quite scary too at some scenes, but amazing no less. Sadly the Lost World and JP3 weren't as good as the original, and Jurrassic World was a poor excuse for the franchise revival. (I mean, talking dinosaurs, really?) Still, this first movie holds a special place in my heart both for its originality and charm.
1. Pirates of the Caribbean (PotC)
And here we are, at no.1 spot, Pirates of the Caribbean. By far my favourite movie series, these films have been very fascinating both for their story telling, interesting characters, intense battles and hilarious moments. The legendary Captain Jack Sparrow never disappointed me and other characters have been awesome and original as well. I can't count how many times I watched the first three movies, while the 4th one I didn't really like that much, so the no.1 spot is reserved for the first 3 movies ie the original triology. Pirate life has never been so fun.
So there you have it. Those were my top 5 favourite movie series. Do note I said favourite, not the best. In no way are these movies the best outthere, nor are they listed based on quality, but on how much I liked them (ie favourites).
