I meant that greeks (Darkzero most importantly) shouldn't have such arrogant national pride going on, while other nations are paying for your countrys mistakes. It has caused alot of discord and negative effects in our society 'cause the goverment decided to give a huge f*cking loan. And we are really not even sure if we are going to get it back. So it's understandable that we're frustrated 'cause we have domestic problems do deal with and that money should've gone elsewhere.

Now I wasn't saying all that 'cause of greek people. I was aiming that toward the arrogant national pride that Darkzeo was showing. Not the people actually. Also EU is considering removing Greek from the union so that's also the reason why they shouldn't have any reason for being arrogant right now and think that you should resort to extreme ways.

I understand your feelings and I partially agree with you. We are a nation with too much pride of our past and little acknowledgement of our mistakes in modern history. Being part of the EU was our biggest one. I didn't mean to offend you either and if I did I apologize.

Okay, well I don't know the exact details why the economy has gone down like that, so maybe my judgement was made in bit of a rush but I was just aiming that at Darkzero. As I said we finns are bitter about this and most of us feel angry 'cause we are spreading our money across the world when bad things are happening in here.

I don't have nothing against Greece, I just think our commitment to the crisis was a bit much, considering our countrys current state. And when darkzero was being arrogant it really angered me.

But no problem, I lost my cool too. That's why I'm bad in arguing at threads like these.

In your attempt to glorify fascism and nationalism, you are leveling history and you are spreading lies to your benefit. I am as Greek as you are and I have never met a Greek who loved Metaxas. Just because this is not a Greek forum it doesn't mean that Greeks are not around.

Also, we get it. You are anti-communist, you don't have to repeat it in every single post. People who actually know their history, know that it was Stalin's Communist Soviet Union that stopped Hitler on the east front and mourned the loss of 20.000.000 people.

There's no justification for any of the people you mentioned. A dictator is a dictator no matter if he has a 'great strategical mind' or if he is a visionaire. By definition, all dictators have committed crimes against humanity which are never to be forgiven and never to be glorified.

You are in no position, whatsoever, of teaching me a history lesson considering that I have a Bachelor's degree in history You will also not tell me how to do my job here.

Our country's civil war is not the subject of this thread, but since you are so kindly trying to teach me my job I should tell you that I am immune to propagandist bullshit. Both sides committed crimes. Yours killed my great-grandfather and send my grandfather to exile some years after that.

You are not the only one who doesn't believe in democracy. Since the days of Plato, philosophy has proven that democracy is a flawed system. As for multiculturalism, that one has also failed. But authoritarianism is not the humane solution to our political problems.

I don't ban people if they don't give me a reason so, keep it decent and there' ll be no problems at all.

How the hell do you make a dictator thread leaving out the best? Kaiser Wilhelm II, Fidel Castro, Leopold II, Napoleon, Ho Chi Minh, and of course Kim Jong Il. These are some of the most ruthless dictators in history. Don't even mention all the African dictators. -smh- Fail of a dictator thread. But of course my favorite is none other than Barack Obama.

In all seriousness, I agree that glorifying and dictator is not something to be done. You can appreciate the good things that any individual has done, but you should simultaneously evaluate and understand why they earned the title of dictator. Many "dictators" commit heinous crimes and have marred the reputation of the people they led. People in general often have forgiveness issues which makes this kind of thread a bit problematic since there is a lack of acknowledgement of the horrendous things some of these men have done.

I do not favor any of them, though I have looked into some of their strategic goals in the past in order to see their philosophy.

Its funny how political concepts like "Dictator", "Democracy", "Tyrant" were corrupted over the coarse of history.

In the days of the Roman Republic the concept of "Dictator" did not carry the negative connotations it carries today. Back then a Dictator was a person who was given sole power for a predetermined period during special emergencies. At the end of the term, the Dictator was supposed to return power to the normal Consular rule and give account of his actions - and Roman Dictators usually did.

The term "Tyrant", in its origins, didn't necessarily carry negative connotations either. A Tyrant was just someone who obtained executive power by unconventional methods, regardless of whether their rule was just or unjust.
