*_* Well, I've read a gud amount of shonen, and among them I've found some that really stand out (either just for certain ideas, art or as a fully well packed product). Here's my top 5 of shonen manga:
1. Soul Eater I really love this one (the manga only tho). The art, the storyline, the character development and the topics have a very nice level of depth and complexity and the latest arc just seems to be getting better and better.

2.Shaman King: I really enjoyed the focus on the topics (very buddhist-like ^^), storyline and the characters, but the ending kind of sucked xd So that's why it's my number two. The art improved massively over the years (it has been fantastic to see Takei's growth) to the point it has some of the best ink works I've seen.

3.Ushio to Tora: This one grew on me a lot, so I had a hard time deciding its rank (it could easily be my top 2). I love how all the battles are very fearsome, with real awful consequences -lot's of drama-; the great youkai's design and their cruel actions give this manga a slightly horror-like atmosphere. Ushio and Tora's relationship is very well-developed, to the point you actually get to know them. Even tho some arcs are not that important, it manages to keep you hooked up all the way to the end.

4.Ao no Exorcist: This one started very slow, but it has paid off. We have come to know Rin and co. at these first 30 chapters better than in other shonen manga and I actually appreciate the fact it's not full of asspuls. The characters and storyline promise a lot, but since it's just starting to take more shape, it has to go to the fourth place.

5.Erementar Gerard: I like this one more because of the art and the characters. The story isn't really that great, but it has very nice moments and certain ideas I'm very interested in (while not pulled perfectly, I still prefer it to Naruto xd). It can unrealistic at times, but not as much as other shonen I've seen/read, and the power scale is actually decent. I enjoyed to see Coud learn, and the main couple's development has been quite cute (yes xd good romance in a shonen...despite that, it has lots of action).

My top 5 list would have to be:

1. Fullmetal Alchemist (By far my favorite Shounen action. Unique action style, amazing story, fantastic character development, and a damn good ending. It's what every Shounen should aspire to be, just amazing in general and my second favorite manga of all time.)

2. Zatch Bell! (VERY underrated series, truth be told the only people I know who have actually finished the series have done so on my recommendation. It looks stupid at first glance, but it's actually a great Shounen. The comedy is fantastic in this series, but all the same it knows how to deal with its serious moments properly and has great character development as well as some plot twists and tension. It has a kiddy feel to it, but it still has a proper story and is well worth the time.)

3. One Piece (Mainstream Shounen alright, but for a good reason: It knows how to appeal to its audience really well. It's the style of story that really hooks all types of viewers, with the Shounen action elements that younger audiences love but with the deeper themes and ideas that older readers can also appreciate. One Piece starts out a bit slow, but once it picks up, it REALLY picks up. One Piece has some of the best backstories in any action Shounen, which is a big reason I like it so much. All the Straw Hats have amazing stories and have suffered from their own tragedies, yet have their friends to back each other up and keep moving forward. It's truly a beautiful story and even though some might say it's overrated, in all honesty it's well deserved. I wouldn't say it's the best Shounen of all time, but I can't really fault anyone for thinking it is.)

4. Pandora Hearts (Well actually, I'm not sure if this REALLY fits the bill, but I'm under the impression this one is an action Shounen. It's far from a typical one though. It's a very plot twist and mystery oriented series, and it's dark enough that it's a far cry from what most would deem to be your typical action Shounen. It's an interesting story that has some elements of Shounen action, but really goes its own way and gets a lot darker and more complicated as things go on. It's a series that really knows how to mess with your mind and get you thinking about what will happen next. It's a brilliant series and I'm not quite sure if it's an "action Shounen" per say, but regardless it's a fantastic story that's well worth it either way.)

5. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (And how could I forget the great JoJo? Truth be told, I haven't gone through the whole series, I've read through 5 parts out of 8, but it's an amazing manga. It began a good deal earlier than many of the popular Shounens, and you can tell from the art, but it really has developed over the years. It follows the multiple generations of "JoJos" and their different tales, and even though a lot of the stories are unique and different from those of the other generations, you can still tell it's all part of the same serise because of the style as well as the whole timeline itself. JoJo is a classic example of "long running done right," and the fact that it's gone on so long without losing its quality speaks of itself. It's one of the longest manga out there, even more than One Piece, but it's well worth it. It starts off a bit simpler, but come parts 2 and 3 things really get going. Truth be told I've heard part 7 is the best though, so one of these days I really have to get to that as well and finish going through the whole JoJo adventure.)

Interesting how I've actually said more about the ones lower on my ranking. Well, FMA is pretty self explanatory either way, but yeah. That would be my top 5 of amazing Shounens.

I think Naruto is the best.
One Piece in Second place! Just because Oda fked up One piece.
Not sure what you mean by that, I'll agree that Fishman arc was pretty meh, but I think One Piece got back up to speed with the Punk Hazard arc. To be honest, it's hard to pick up properly after a timeskip, especially with something as insane as the Whitebeard War to leave off of. Things like this take time to build back up, particularly because One Piece is so long that it definitely needs more time considering how long it took to really get going in the first place.

@rikerslade: Which is the other one? xd
@Miles: I've heard a lot of FMA, but for some reason I just can't sit down and read the first damm chapter (I hadn't even seen the first page) xd Lol Someday I will read it.
I've never heard of Zatch Bell on the other hand. Soul Eater started quite silly it self, so if I manage to laugh, I might actually read it all.
I already told you why OP is not appealing to me xd Too long. I can handle 200-300 chapters for a manga, but it starts getting bigger and I get tired -even if I hadn't started-. xd I think I heard about Jojo before, but no one told me it was longer than OP....I'll have to think about it...I might give it chance if it has finished.
My sister reads Pandora Hearts. I have no idea what is it about, but seems legit. Oz looks constantly shocked, I wonder why :)
I'm surprised you didn't mention D. Gray man xd I thought I'd see it on your list. I'm watching it still, but a bit slow...been busy xd
