Young Man sentenced to 15 years of labor in North Korea

Wow, this is outrageous. This young 21 year old man has been sentenced to 15 years of hard labor in a North Korean camp for stealing a poster of Kim Jong Un. He says it was a dare, and was promised a 10,000 dollar car if successful.

A lot of people are saying he deserves what he's getting which I personally find distasteful. We all do stupid sh*t, especially when we're young. This young man probably thought he was gonna get away with it, and shrugged off stealing a picture. Now I know doing such a thing in a country like North Korea of all places is foolish but come on, he doesn't deserve it.

Apparently the US consulate reached out but North Korea denied any attempt to negotiate.

America does have harsh judgement at times, however not nearly at this scale in terms of punishment. America may do an excessive amount of prison time, or perhaps an outrageous fine, but torture is not one of them. And those outrageous punishments are usually due to cranky judges aiming to set an example.
