The damage stopped after Naruto sustained his life force. At the level of damage gai was in there was so suffering. The dude wasn't even conscious.

His leg had already started to turn to ash before naruto healed him, as we saw with obito there's no coming back from that even with narutos healing.

Healing Rock Lee was a risk because so many bone shards were in his spine.

Healing Gai's foot is the same as his bone/foot completely shattered and piecing that back together in itself is impossible for a none byakugo user.

Tsunade and Sakura may be able to do unbelievable things with byakugo for themselves. For other people they have limitations. That's just the way it is.

For some reason Sakura chakra control seems to be better than Tsunades own.
For one Tsunade states that her medical ninjutsu wouldn't be able to heal Naruto frs damage, but then Sakura is shown to heal it.

And technically , her removing kakuro poison was more complex and theorictally, using the same application should work. As she literally pulls foreign antibodies from blood cells and organs with her chakra.

I think it's an unnessecary nerf of Tsunade part ; because the manga contradicts her own self doubt.
Tsunade could've shaved Lee's hair and regenerates him, like they did for Neji .

And Sakura literally healed narutos arm, Tsunade seems to have limitations, Sakura doesn't, even though people imply it.

I meant more it was actually falling off as ash, that's what everyone seems to forget. It's also not a clear case of replacing it like they did with narutos arm, as they would of at least removed the cast by now, gai had no issues or reasons to not do it like sasuke, so the fact that 10+ years later he's still covering it but the rest of him looks pretty normal probably means a.) the foot is gone still and b.) it couldn't be healed. Unless of course... people actually believe the byakugo twins just couldn't be bothered

There are more pressing matters tbh, Gai is well beyond his prime, he is good to be retired. His foot was probably a blessing for him, the series implied multiple times that his "youth" was just an act.
