I think Madara wins and then there is a timeskip where Konohamaru is much older and is the one to defeat Mads. That would explain him being the successor of the main character and would be one of those unexpected plot twists.

You'd have to be incredibly simple to believe that Naruto won't stand back up from this. He's the main character of the series, he's obviously not going to be taken down like that..​
