Well I don't want to sound like Madara but real world doesn't work that way. What Naruto did, forgiving and all is noble but not realistic. It is the right thing to do but not realistic. You're just saying killing someone because of revenge is wrong. There is no doubt it is wrong, but you cannot deny it is realistic and what would most do in under same circumstances.

But forgiving without any kind of retribution is like drinking from an empty glass.

Well if you want realistic it would go like this. Most people would commit suicide. The others would foster hate but won't be able to achieve revenge because they are weak.

Only a few people would rise and be powerful enough to the point where they would really be the ones who decide to forgive or kill. So realistically speaking revenge is an equally unrealistic scenario as forgiveness. However in one in a million case where you do become powerful enough you should rise above the hate. It takes a greater person to forgive. I know I am not that great but I would like to think people can be that good. Then we should aim to be that good.
