Byakugou seal translated to white strength seal. Things I want to point out katsuyu is white, sakura, and tsunade have the seal, and and their yin chakra is katsuyu strength. I noticed this page kinda shows what I'm talking about in this part.

We also know that that katsuyu power comes directly from the strength seal. And when tsunade is weak katsuyu is weak. When tsunade is strong katsuyu is strong. It shows that the Byakugou seal is more than just a seal. It's a seal, a contract, and a mental link between them.

This is when I'm going to prove you need it to summon. When Sakura first summoned katsuyu she said, "you mastered the Byakugou seal". Why would she first say that? And the funny thing is katsuyu can't even see Sakura. She's on top of her head.

We also know tsunade had the yin seal when she was in the village because orochimaru saw katsuyu healing abilities = Byakugou seal. Remember katsuyu strength comes from the seal. So I can proudly say you need the Byakugou seal before you can summon katsuyu
From what I've seen, you may be right. Katsuyu abilities come from Tsuande's and Sakura's Yin Chakra so the more power the seal is, the more power Katsuyu gets.
Tsunade & the others could summon Gamabunta & Manda way back when they were under Sarutobi's guidance.
Tsunade learned Byakugou after she left the Leaf Village.
although this is a really nice thread & theory.
Sakura might not have had enough Chakra or power in the past if she tried to summon Katsuyu
and/or Tsunade made it a rule for Sakura to only summon Katsuyu if she activated the seal (or something) <_<
Also Katsuyu can feel the chakra of the one who summons her if they are standing on her or touching her body.

Orochimaru / Kabuto probably did research on THAT jutsu and abilities being combined with Katsuyu
after this incident. So Orochimaru pretty much insists that he has never seen it before.
Now Orochimaru can watch & feel things from his curse marks in various shinobi, including Anko and he felt when Kimimaro died in his battle against Gaara/Lee... & Kabuto is an excellent medical genius/ shinobi.
During Pein's invasion on the Hidden Leaf, Danzo was there and refused to interfere... however Anko was still in the village (I think/ or she was following Kabuto) but either way Tsunade combined with Katsuyu to heal the people of the Village during the akatsuki assault. They could have gotten information from Anko or Danzo..
Danzo's corpse was taken by Tobi to his Lab.. Kabuto experimented with the Zetsu and the Edo Jinchuriki for Tobi's use in the war. Tobi using the Rinnegan Paths for each of the Jinchuriki.
Kabuto's memories of working with Tobi were transferred to Orochimaru.. so now Orochimaru knows what Kabuto knew.

it's been said all you need to summon an animal is a contract with the summon.
Byakugou is used for the healing technique with katsuyu it won't be a prerequisite to summon her.
her part of that technique is chakra distribution thats it. naruto could probably give her chakra and use her to give everyone chakra cloaks.
summons don't have those kind of requirements.
TBH if any actually did i think it would be manda(we all saw part one how he acted when sumoned)
Katsuyu said she can use her power according to Tsunade's Byakugou power . Katsuyu cant use her full power if Tsunade is severely weakened. So according to what anyone in the manga says about Katsuyu or Tsunade, it doesn't have anything to do with needing Byakugou to summon Katsuyu.
Well, at least I do agree with you with the fact that Katsuyu and byakugo seal have a link and Katsuyu's strength comes according to the seal.
This COULD be true actually but we have no facts to support that you need the seal to summon Katsuyu.
This is good speculation but we can't be sure about anything. But yeah, good thread.
alright, maybe Tsunade needed Byakugou to summon Katsuyu . Maybe she had byakugou without the regeneration jutsu.
Orochimaru(Manda)Jiraiya(gamabunta)Tsunade(katsuyu) were already a known summon trio before splitting up.
As Gamabunta said "the trio is back together" again referring to being with Manda & Katsuyu again.
So if Byakugou was developed by Tsunade & the strength of the byakugou depends on stored chakra or Tsunade's health.
and Katsuyu's healing effectiveness depends on Byakugou then I suppose its possible that Byakugou
could have been using the byakugou seal , but Orochimaru has never seen it back then while they partnered up.
okay Tsunade uses byakugou to heal others with Katsuyu but regenerating her own cells is different then just healing.
