I personally want children but will probably not have any,

If you think about one thing. The way things are going with Train drivers in London, ALL their jobs are soon to be taken over by robots , Factory are slowly becoming even MORE robot dependent, MacDonald is replacing their employees with Robots.

If I were to have kids in 10 years, They would probably want to get a job in by the time they are 18, so 18 + 10 = 28.
In 28 years, jobs are going to be more scarce. ACCORDING to a lot of people, the population is growing and in 28 years (2042) there will be around 9 billion people.

Considering this, do you really want to have a child in a world full of unemployment, YOU yourself may not even have a job.The way things are going, we need an EMP attack from the sun I think to set us back to the stone ages, that is our last hope. It will kill a LOT of people and we won't be dependent on technology as much anymore.

Sure, the entry-level menial jobs. But were the children to get Biology-Chemistry-Physics degrees? The jobs comprised of these fields are going to INCREASE. And since Psychology is becoming a serious Science, the jobs in that are going to increase further as well.

You can't say what they will or will not get, they may want to be a bin man for all you know but, most of the streets may already be swept by robots,saying good jobs is just selfish because they should follow their own heart.

Also with 9 billion people on Earth, there will be a heck of competition and there will be losers, you and your family may just turn out to be on the loosing side.

I think that needing an EMP attack is a bit too much.

Sure, we might lose a lot of jobs but more positions for research will open up.
If you are going to study something like literature or travel & tourism I doubt you will get a job without a lot of searching, whereas if you were to study something like chemistry, physics etc. etc. you will have an easier time finding a job.

You have a point, machines will replace some workers. But there are still many areas that need workers, and it will take far longer than 28 years for robots to enter it. Competition will be harsh, and unemployment will strike many people, even more than today.
To prepare your son and yourself to that, you will need to be dedicated to school, and teach your kids to do the same.

have you seen the google automatic cars 10 years max before that's somewhat common in for drivers, there's also been an increase in online education don't really need teachers i doubt doctors are that far off from complete replacement as well maybe 50 years if that. as far as hard work some might not be replaced but a lot of it already is warehouses almost completely run by automated forklifts and whatnot but i see your point it wont be any time in the near future.

I see you know nothing, bus drivers will soon get replaced, I can't believe the thing you said about physical workers though,"physical workers" are getting replaced RIGHT now. Robots and machines are stronger than humans,faster and cheaper. Yes it may CURRENTLY take a person or two to operate the machines but if you do the math you get this.

90 years ago, to move 50 thousand bricks it took more than 140 people. Now, you can have 1 guy moving all those bricks by himself with a machine, meaning 139 people will be without a job.
