Is that it? Yes but is it a bad reason? Depends.
Little is known about Rin or how she died. She may have died in front of Obito, who in his condition was in no position to protect her. We can assume that she died before the kyuubi attack since she wasn't anywhere to be seen during the whole thing.
So how did she die? The manner of her death is probably the most important factor to take into account to judge Obito's motives. Some that i think may have happened.
Obito watches over konoha afraid to show his face for fear of being called a freak. Leaves a note for rin to go to set destination. Meet in leaf forest several miles from the village.
1. They are ambushed by some rogue ninja, Obito in no fit state to fight has to rely on rin for protection, Noticing obito's weakness the rogues disable him injuring him to a degree where he can't even stand ( he can't make hand seals anyway since his arm is useless.) Rin is killed in front of him and obito is left for dead. His dying body discovered by zetsu who notices he's still alive and brought to Madara. The ordeal led to his ms.
2. Zetsu brought obito out of the rock healing some of his injuries and brought him to madara. Madara wishes to unlock obitos Ms. Obito tells madara about rin and kakashi (cause of his missing eye) Madara gives him permission to contact Rin and no one else. They meet where madara and zetsu watch from nearby, Madara nods to zetsu. Rin hugs obito and obito returns the gesture when his right arm goes crazy and smothers her, obito shrieks and tries to break away but he can't he calls out to kakashi and minato, neither of them coming. He seeks revenge on madara and so trains under him (like sasuke and oro) so that he can become strong enough to kill him. Set on this idea he follows in his footsteps, attacking the hokage (as did madara) using the kyuubi he becomes madara's biggest fan trying to become him so that eventually he can defeat him. It was also a way of testing his powers. Moon's eye plan was developed during or after the uchiha massacre.
3.After being healed by zetsu. He learns how rin feels towards kakashi and out of jealousy and lack of confidence in himself for future Laydays
he takes her life. Shocked at what he did he convinces himself that it wasn't his fault, blames everyone he can rather than face what he did. Brought back to madara where he seeks training so he can take out revenge on the people he blamed.
