You know, Shino was pretty damn strong pre-Shippuden

Shino beat Kankuro and Kankuro beat Sakon/Ukon with ease. Sakon/Ukon was possibly the strongest of the sound four. He was the leader at least. Since Kankuro beat him, I assume this means that Shino would also beat him with ease.

They really should have taken Shino along for the fight with the Sound 4. He was legitimately one of the strongest of them.

I mean, of course he was weaker than Naruto and Sasuke. But, they had some unfair advantages. They're just in a different league. Rock Lee might also give Shino some trouble.

But, besides them, I don't think any of the Konoha Genin were stronger. The only two who come close are Neji and Kiba. But, Neji and Kiba struggled against the Sound 4. So, the math is: Neji and Kiba ≤ Sound Four < Kankuro < Shino. That means Neji and Kiba < Shino.

So yeah. In conclusion, Shino is badass.

That "ABC" logic that doesn't work. Shino had defeated Kankuro because he was a long-range fighter and his insects are able to disable Kankuro's puppets. Sakon/Ukon were defeated by Kankuro because they were short-range fighters and knew little of their opponent abilities. At this point, we don't know, but it is likely given their Shino's advantage. However, Shino's disadvantage is short-range; so, again, we don't know.

That scaling is a little off. Kankuro got stronger after the Chunin Exams by getting more puppets, which was why he defeated Sakon/Ukon fairly easily.

It does work. sakon has chakra and the bugs eat his chakra.

Shino is strong , but CE1 Neji and Weightless Lee w/1st Gate are far above his and Kankuro's level. Neji was placed in the monster class beside the likes of Gaara by Kankuro/kishi himself , and the moment Lee removed the weights he obviously jumped tiers above the likes of Kankuro/Shino/kiba and the others.

SRA Kiba can also beat him and butterfly Choji does the same tho it can go either way based on the context and location of the fight. CE2 Shino was clearly placed on Kankuro's general level of power which is far below Lee/Neji/Sasuke.

A fresh Kankuro defeated a tired Sakon/ukon who just finished fighting SRA Kiba and 2 Jonin beforehand while using CM2 actively. Ukon who was in control of their body even said he doesn't have much Chakra left and that "Its super hard to move their body". Then we have the fact that Sakon was resting which is why Kankuro got Ukon from behind.

Naruto is about match-ups and most importantly , the context behind said match-ups. ABC logic is only good for DBZ debates. Replace tired Ukon/sakon with Base Kidomaru and he stomps both Kankuro and kiba neg diff. Literal negative diff.
