naruto comes 3rd in my top 3 manga,i am waiting for it to finish and i'm sure it may come at 1st,with great teacher onizuka as 1st and fma as 2nd.
in terms of anime,well tbh,it's 2nd in my list,after fma-b followed by death note.well i never used to watch fillers and think that anime is on break whenever they made one and only watch it in 720p and it's superb,in animation,emotion and everything,especially osts,just love them.Though they did mess up lately in war arc somewhere in between when the fights actually starts after gaara speech eps. and eps. 322,and only few good animation eps. came out,like nagato vs itachi,naruto and bee,ep. paradox and later till 302. As for the pain vs naruto the infamous fight ep. it's animation was superb like 322,though they went overboard with those 20 sec. of facial expressions.But the animation is finally back to awesome and good from ep. 322.

I'll try to make a quick list of animes that are better than Naruto; Hellsing, Ghost in a Shell, Evangelion, Ergo Proxy, Cowboy Bebop, Twelve Kingdoms, Darker Than Black, Black Lagoon, Gungrave, Trigun, Planetes, Kurozuka, Ninja Scroll, Death Note, Elfen Lied, Rurouni Kenshin, Last Exile, Serial Experiments Lain, Kara no Kyoukai, Baccano, Mushishi, Samurai Champlo, Code Geass, Claymore and even Bleach! All are better than Naruto Anime wise, and most are better both anime and manga wise. I didn't count them but I'm sure Naruto is not top 20.

PS: there is no particular order in that list I just typed a few but it's not meant to be a top anything, just a list of animes better than Naruto.

Manga cracks top 20 no problems. I wouldn't even be surprised if sites ranked in in their top 10, nearing their top 5's.

But shippuden is a disaster. Has been for a long time. And IGN isn't exactly on their stuff, if you know what I mean.

Just made it clear I'm talking about Anime, the series not the manga. Naruto is clearly top20 if not top10 manga. It's only the Anime series that isn't as good as many others.
