some manga chapter unfolds a belief that itachi levels with higher ninjas like the first,madara,etc
so you can't judge itachi by his feats today!

please, itachi not only has the highest number of fights apart from naruto,sasuke and kakashi, but he was also given a chance to redeem himself with edo tensei. we've been given a very clear indication of his capabilities. there is absolutely nothing to show that he is on a par with the shodai and madara, neither hype and least of all feats. after eight years of spying on akatsuki, the only way he could take on the 'shell' of madara was by a sneak attack and even that failed.
