Background Info.
History: Yoshimitsu was born into a family of Samurai within the Land of Iron. From the day of his birth he was raised to become a true Samurai. He was taught of the world around him and learned to respect nature for its beauty and power. He also learned to respect his heritage, and above all else, the sword. He began his weapon training at the age of five where he quickly excelled in ability.
At the age of twelve Yoshimitsu witnessed the extremes of which his family adhered to the Samurai life style, as well as the faith they placed within their weapons. His great grandfather had become weathered with age and was nearing the end of his days. It was viewed as dishonorable to die by anything besides the blade within the Menji family. His grandfather put on his traditional Samurai armor and in a long ceremony he handed the blade off to his son, Yoshi's father. The ceremony continued with an intense battle between father and son. This battle always came to the same conclusion, the son slaying the father and assuming the role of family head and wielder of the Ancestral Blade. Yoshi's father had years in his eyes as he wiped the blood off the blade. But they weren't just tears of sadness, they were tears of thanks. It was a privilege to give a warrior an honorable death. It was an honor to grant another peace. It was said that through this ceremony, the power and energy of the grandfather was transfered into the Ancestral Blade, and this is what is said to give it its strength.
Yoshi continue his training over the years becoming one of the most skilled swordsmen within his family. Fame of his abilities quickly spread throughout the Land of Iron. By the age of thirty he was leagues beyond anyone else in his family. His father was becoming older, and it saddened Yoshi to see his once great father weaken over time. That day when he witness his grandfather pass at the hands of his father had stuck with him. Even though he understood the tradition, he couldn't help but question its truth. He loved his father and respected him more than anything else, how could he kill this man? It was a question that constantly filled his thoughts, but he would come to the same answer. Respect. Honor. Peace. These ideals were why it had to happen. It was a warriors right to die by a blade, if Yoshi had any respect for his father he would give him this honor, and allow him to achieve peace. He had come to accept that fated day.
The day finally came on Yoshi's thirty fifth birthday. In the recent years he had begun to build a family of his own. He had taken a wife who was plump with his unborn child. On this day Yoshi's father fell ill. He was barely able to stand on his own and it became apparent that he was ready to be given peace. The ceremony began. Yoshi slowly approached his father who was using all of his might to stand properly and unaided with the Ancestral Blade laid across his outstretched hands. Yoshi place his hands underneath the blade and gently lifted it from his father's hands, the transaction was complete. Yoshi immediately felt the energy of past generations flowing through the warm metal. It was an incredible power that brought Yoshi closer to his ancestors than he had ever been before. Yoshi stepped back and bowed to his father, it was time. The two Samurai fastened their armor and took their respective places. Yoshi charged without hesitation, he was prepared for this day. He was pleasantly surprised at how much strength his father was fighting with, even in his sickened and old state he was a formidable foe. It made Yoshi feel privileged to have been his son. Yoshi's father thrust his blade forward to which Yoshi slid the outside flat of his blade along, pushing it of course. Yoshi's blade drove into his father's chest, piercing his heart. It was over. Yoshi's father's head rested on the shoulder of his son. "Thank you Yoshi, you have brought be peace." Those were the last words before his father fell lifeless.
A day later Yoshi's first son was born, and his reign as the head of the Manji family was underway. Yoshi held his son and examined him. This small child would some die bring Yoshi peace. Yoshi would give him training and build him into a strong warrior, and in return that warrior would set Yoshi free.
Though until this time it is Yoshi's duty to protect his family from all threats, both foreign and domestic. This is a duty that Yoshi is fully prepared to undertake, and will. He will battle against many a foe before his time has ended. So is the way of the Samurai.
Other
The Ancestral Blade: This weapon has been passed down through eleven generations of the Manji family and now lays in the hands of Yoshimitsu. It is said that it holds the power of each of its previous wielders making it stronger with each passing generation. The sword can be seen in the picture at the top of the screen. Its much more European in its appearance than Japanese and is quite large compared to the normal katana.
(This sword has no special abilities or strength, the part about increasing its power with every generation is just folklore to give the weapon some personality.)
Other Weapons: Besides the Ancestral Blade, Yoshi keeps a smaller set of a wakazashi sized sword and normal katana on his right hip which are used when a quick draw is needed for a rapid defense or attack. He also keep several pouches full of useful tools such as smoke bombs, explosive tags, kunai and shuriken on his waist.
Samurai Ability: Like all Samurai, Yoshi is proficient in the use of chakra manipulation and can coat each of his weapons with a layer of chakra increasing their cutting power and length.
