Mito and Kushina had more efficient and better fuinjutsu used.

But I'm pretty sure Minato said it was because Naruto was a day old.

he used that seal on Naruto.
His point was that... if he just wanted to get rid of the kyuubi with RDS alone without sealing it in a jin, the RDS wouldn't be able to handle the full kyuubi.
he knows how to do the same seal Mito and Kushina had, he did it on Naruto. but Naruto was also too young to just seal the full kyuubi.
