Yin–Yang Release (In'yōton) is a nature transformation that combines Yin Release and Yang Release, two natures that exist outside the five basic elemental natures. Yin Release uses spiritual energy and Yang Release uses physical energy, which are the two components of chakra. This in turn means that all Jutsu that utilize chakra are at least distantly rooted in Yin–Yang Release. However, purer and root applications of Yin-Yang Release are scarce among most modern shinobi. While all shinobi manipulate their Yin and Yang natures to a degree, to profess oneself as a proficient user or master of Yin-Yang Release requires competency in chakra manipulation beyond that of the common shinobi.

Restrictions:

• A member must be Jounin rank and have basic Fuinjutsu plus all basic fields completed in order to learn Yin/Yang Release.
• Members must purchase the ability in order to learn either Yin Release or Yang Release.
• Yin and Yang techniques will have standard damage and chakra values unless the user specializes in the field, unable being able to specialize in one of the two. This also extends to Customs and Custom Elements derived from the fields. Canon bios do, however, have access to their own proprietary Yin/Yang Release techniques.

• Yin-Yang Release consists of 3 components: Yin Release, Yang Release, and Yin/Yang Release.
• Yin-Yang Release training can only occur after training in both Yin as well as Yang Releases.

Yin Release refers to techniques that possess a strong proportion of Yin chakra. Yin is the energy that governs one’s spiritual energy; the mind, darkness, imagination, and creation. That is why techniques like Genjutsu, Nara, and Yamanaka clan techniques are considered Yin Release in nature. However, the scope of Yin Release is much deeper than those techniques. Creation from nothing, the imagination, Yin Release also encompasses techniques that revolve around those properties. As such, Yin Release techniques give properties to Jutsu that would otherwise be impossible such as: giving tangibility to intangible entities and vice versa, in a similar way to how Sasuke Uchiha applied Yin Release to his Lightning to enable it to have a solidity of sorts. As well, through the addition of Yin Release, users could give spiritual properties to elemental techniques.

Yang Release refers to techniques that possess a strong proportion of Yang nature. Yang is the energy governs one’s physical energy; the body, light, vitality, and life. Yang Release techniques tend to be techniques that are very high and boisterous in energy. However, one of the more prominent abilities of Yang Release techniques is its ability to give life to form. Giving sentience and vital energy into non-sentient entities is an ability that Yang Release users can accomplish. It also revolves around empowering one's stamina, vitality and physical energy, allowing one to bring out more strength, resist damage or even death.

Yin-Yang Release pertains to the ability to combine both natures of chakra to achieve ninjutsu. Ninjutsu creates form from nothing (Yin Release) and brings life to form (Yang Release). In essence, skilled Yin-Yang Release users are able to use higher grade techniques that are closer to the Creation of All Things (万物創造, Banbutsu Sōzō) used by Hagoromo.

Users of Yin-Yang can manipulate both their Yin and Yang chakras with such precise control to allow them to generate higher tier and potent techniques. Yin-Yang users are capable of utilizing Yin or Yang Specialist restricted techniques as well as different proportions of Yin and Yang chakra for techniques at will to give certain properties to any given technique. Yin-Yang Release masters have a stronger chakra which allows raw chakra techniques (such as the Rasengan for example) to be neutral to all other basic chakra natures. Yin-Yang Release users have an advantage over other shinobi in various degrees due to their heightened skill in manipulating their chakra. At a base level, all Yin/Yang Release users possess a greater balance in their chakra due to the ability to manipulate and control the proportions of their chakra natures. This translates to all Yin/Yang Release users being capable of manipulating multiple nature elements simultaneously to create stronger attacks and to string techniques in closer succession (not to be confused with using multiple jutsu at once or breaking the time frame). This also extends to an ability to passively sense chakra and it's nature, as well as identify different chakra signatures
