This is from the offcial website of Boruto that reveals that the soundtrack will be released on June 28

Translation :

■ TV anime "BORUTO - Volt - NARUTO NEXT GENERATONS"
"BORUTO-Bolt -" is the main character of Mr. Masashi Kishimoto's hit manga "NARUTO" · son of Naruto · Baltic is active. Theatrical version animation will be screened in 2015, and TV animation was made from April 2017. Mr. Nobuyuki Abe for general manager, Hiroyuki Yamashita for director, Makoto Uezu in series composition. Uchikyo Otakata who is in charge of script of the original comic participates as story supervision, and the original story which can be seen only with TV animation under the full cooperation of the original author is developed.

according to the Translation : Ukyo the Boruto Manga author is the supervisor of the boruto anime . Kishimoto is under full cooperation of the Boruto anime .

Putting aside trolling or joking around, this anime/manga falls in the same grey area that the Dragonball Super anime/manga falls under. In the case of DBS its hard to firmly say without fail which source should infact be considered canon and which should be considered non-canon, as the anime is much further in the story than the manga—despite that material gap however, I believe common sense can easily pick out which content is canon and which isn't. As the saying goes, "the truth lies somewhere in the middle". To be more specific, the DBS anime may be much further along but it stretches the material to go on for much longer than it needs to (for example they dedicated an ENTIRE episode to goku transforming into his Super Saiyan God form during the Battle of Gods recap arc) while the manga both speeds through arcs in a much more timely fashion and overall does a much better job handling explanations and things like power scaling.

Going back to Boruto—my suspicion is this will be a similar case. The anime currently is far behind the manga, but in time this will change and the anime will far surpass the manga's content. So while for the time being it may be hard to compare the manga's depiction of events and the anime's, I believe that with common sense we should be able to determine what content to consider "canon" and what content to forget about. I for one consider the current arc of the Boruto anime to be canon; there has yet to be any other depiction of Boruto's days in the academy, so there is no harm in allowing the anime to give these characters the necessary introductions and character building they so desperately need. With that said, we should also be very weary of any noticeably ridiculous (or filler) episodes/arcs—the most recent episode I would say was bordering on filler content, but towards the end of the episode I would say it steered back on course.

So if anything comedic and silly happened it's considered filler? Then all one piece is filler at this rate . Not every ep shoukd be full of serious moments especially only at ep 4

There's a possibility that the anime might skip over Naruto Gaiden since they didn't bother cover ch700 and went straight ahead to Mitsuki for next episode. Even if they stick with Gaiden, they will either rearrange the plot or perhaps they gonna stretch the episode with the filler padding. There's no doubt in mind that the chief in staff will follow Movie content again and if they don't intend to catch up to the manga, they could easily add some fillers or stuff that should've been added to the movie for example Kishi initially planned to add 3rd Ootsutski like we've seen in the anime or add more backstory to Momoshiki however due to their time being constraint for the release they ended up scraping it out.
Depend on the circumstances, if the gap with the anime don't stay enough consistent with the manga then clearly the whole factor of canon/filler are insignificant since both serve as its own continuity given the interpretation to be canon.

That's not exactly what I meant. I just mean it should be pretty easy to differentiate filler material in a case like this: for example, again referring to DBS as its the only thing I know that is in this situation, inbetween arcs the anime CLEARLY features a few episodes of what can easily be identified as filler (there was an episode where all the characters played baseball, for example). In the context of the overall plot, as well as the general tone/episode plot, there is no way anyone can argue something like that being canon. Furthermore when the manga catches up to certain arcs it skips these "transitional episodes" as I'll call them, and instead naturally progresses from one major arc to the next. Now again, since the Boruto anime currently is set PRIOR to the manga/movie it will be slightly harder to identify these kind of episodes but I would think a general rule of thumb would be to identify and question how the episode progresses the overall arc/plot. As I mentioned, the most recent episode towards the end introduced an animal/creature that has been teased since the first episode—so I would assume and consider this episode to be canon as so far it seems to be progressing this introductory arc.

At this point we can really only speculate as to how the anime is going to handle the canon timeline, but so far I think its safe to assume they will be animating all of the canon material at the proper time. The thing you also have to consider is the anime is currently set right at the START of Boruto's academy days while the Gaiden is set right at the END of the academy. So there is still plenty of time for the anime to do its own thing before beginning to anime the canon material—on the topic of Mitsuki however, I am surprised they are introducing him this early. To be fair, I am unsure when Mitsuki's one-shot manga took place in the timeline so they haven't really altered the canon material yet. As for when they will even animate his one-shot, that remains a mystery.

I knew I could count on you =D

Yes I agree, both the script writer for the Bolt manga and Kishimoto being so heavily involved in the anime makes it very clear its canon.

I don' t think Kishimoto has any power on the new artists work.
Look at the final transformation of Momoshiki for a proof. If he had some power to decide, I think Kishimoto would never have allowed as bad drawings in a manga related to his name.

Did you see Kishimoto telling us to watch Boruto on his couch?Like a hostage asking for a ransom, I bet there was a guy with a gun behind the camera.

I just hate this filler/canon limbo that the producers and writers have put us in. Just come out and state which is which and make life easier for fans

This does not prove it's canon

They pretty much already have though. I don't think we'll ever get more of a confirmation of "Hey this is canon" than the current writer for the manga supervising the anime's story lines, Kishimoto "fully cooperating" with the anime team, and even giving his approval to the stories.

We won't ever get anyone in charge ever OUT RIGHT confirming or offing things as canon/non-canon. I mean, just look at how Kishi put the Eternal Genin thing and Raiga, both filler, into the manga. It's clear he doesn't seem to care, I wouldn't even be surprised if he consider the anime part of his storyline.

Lmao it's like you don't know what makes something canon or not. There is one established universe or continuity and anything that doesn't comply with that continuity or isn't shown or stated to happen in that continuity isn't canon. Writers have little to do with it and that's why the Boruto Manga past the Boruto the Movie events are being held as canon by the fandom despite Kishi not writing them. Because they are intended to be.

When the manga and anime start sharing events or when the Manga shows something that proves it's following the continuity set up by the anime then it's proven canon. Until then no one knows as the Manga and Anime are too far apart.
