Lol if you wanna play the "I have to see to believe" game, then I'll play it too. Show me a scan of Itachi not being able to hold it outside of Susano'o and him being able to only use it for the specified time you mentioned and then I'll believe you.

Until then, Itachi can use both outside of Susano'o all he wants.

If Orochimaru wasted so much time searching for Totsuka, then by your logic, he would've been well aware of the fact that he was searching for a sword that he wouldn't even be able to use - a sword that is said to be an ethereal variation of Kusanagi, his own personal blade.
