It really isn't my interpretation. The Yata may change its attributes to nullify any attack. Size is also an attribute. The second image is after the attack itself, and thus proves only that it returns to its natural state after an attack. The original image clearly shows its ability to change shape. In order for the Yata to nullify all attacks, it needs to be able to defend from any direction. It's actually just logical conjunction with the databook.

It is not logical conjunction with the databook as you are making claim that the Yata-mirror can respond to attack where it is not positioned to repel it.

There might be a different story when the mirror is hit. One might assume the mirror has the ability to enlarge itself along returning equal force to the opposing element. I would suspect it is only the latter but your guess is as good as mine here.

I can see it from your point of view as well. When the databook refers to changing its attributes to suit the attack, that should include attacks from the rear, underground, above, etc. If it is truly capable of nullifying any attack, it should be able to do this with the changing of its attributes (size, shape, and direction in this case). That's how I took it.

According to Kishimoto (you know the Man that created 'Naruto') the Yata Mirror repels ANY attack. That includes TBB. That statement has not yet been contradicted, so it still holds and will likely hold true forever. It's an indestructible Mirror that can change any of its attributes such as size and shape to repel anything, from any direction.

I think some people are only looking at Itachi as a character and since he's obviously vastly outmatched overall against the top-tiers now they're like "Nope Yata mirror won't work" but people are forgetting that the Yata Mirror is a godly spiritual item.

yata mirror technically blocks everything and hasn't been proven otherwise. However, seeing other powerful characters, Narutobase members decided to downplay yata mirror for their own convenience.

Well the problem is that there is hype=/=feats. Lack of proof also isn't proof.

Still, I don't care about it's supposed imperviousness, there are effective tactics and strategies to deal with it, as well as a potential weakness the the databook creates: the shield changes it's properties to stop a singular attack, but it says nothing about stopping multiple attacks. That's one of it's logical weaknesses.

I actually misspoke when I said "I suspect it is only the latter".

I meant I suspect the mirror does only return a equal force.

I doubt it enlarges itself as it would need to add extra energy to enlarge already thin mirror with the returning force... I don't know what Kishi thinks about this but enlarging wouln't be consistend if its function is to return an equal opposing force.

There is also no real evidence for enlargement; only speculation from a edited image.

Right, but it would need to expand in some instances in order to effectively nullify an attack. The nullification itself exhibits that equal force.

I had that thought earlier. It could work, too bad we'll never know lol

So the Susano would prevent it or are you saying the Yata would act as a filter?

The sussano will prevent it.

We already saw how Sasuke's v2 sussano was able to block out the boil release and acid mist from Mei[ ]. Which gives me enough reason to believe that it will be capable of protecting the user from the poisonous gas.

Right, but it would need to expand in some instances in order to effectively nullify an attack. The nullification itself exhibits that equal force.

-Or it works like when man holds a shield; the shield can be moved into right possition.

My perspective is simple.

Susanoo holds the mirror with its left hand. It is moving forward with Itachi and Susanoo moves the mirror to counter the exploding kunais. The explosion then streamlines along with the mirror...

If this wasn't the case and you where right; then why did Khisi go through the trouble of writing dashes all over the left hand of Susanoo; making it look like it was moving its hand into position?

Anyway;
I agree that Yata mirror can repel any attack if it is directly hit.
I do not agree it has "all covering" property like Gara sand.

It will block TBB at certain level but not protect him from its ground braking destruction. (He will have to jumb between rocks flying beneth him or something)

I was replying to your picture of "cat leaving earth in spacesuit because your proposition was too stupit".

It had nothing to do with the discussion. I was just responding to you with the same level of respect and showing how your "superior" logic fails at the same time.

I understand your point of view, but when dealing with something that has complete manipulation over its own properties it isn't all that simple. The databook states that the Yata is the thing that nullifies the attack. It must have a wielder to be summoned, but the Yata has no choice but to nullify the attacks. What I mean by this is that Itachi could not choose to let something get through; the Yata is automatic. With a shield with that power and the ability to manipulate itself completely, I cannot find any logical conclusion to say that it can only block from the front and needs to be used as a normal shield would. Changing any and all properties leaves almost limitless options.

As for moving its hand into position: this could simply be pressure marks as there is obviously pressure from the explosions that the Yata had to enlarge in order to nullify. But, say they were marks to indicate he moved the hand into position. That would be Itachi acting since he controlled the arms of the Susano.

From previous post: The image is edited, but only to add green lines outside the actual black lines that the Yata exhibits. It is not speculation as the image is still very much accurate to the manga. Put them side by side if you wish. Also, the databook entry itself states the ability to change all properties. Size and shape are properties, therefore even if it wasn't shown (which it was), it is still logically valid via the databook.

While being a great defense, Yata should have the same restrictions as any shield. I.E. it can only guard from one direction, the direction it's being directed in.

In other words, the shield can stop any attack it intercepts, but intercepting the attack is necessary to actually stop the attack.

Yet that isn't supported by the databook. Properties like shape and size are viable and actually have a panel. Regardless, the changing of any properties to nullify any attack is too big of a statement to expect the Yata to act within ordinary means.

The databook states that the Yata is the thing that nullifies the attack : And nothing more.

the Yata has no choice but to nullify the attacks : but does the Yata have no choice but to nullify attack that does not touch it?

the Yata is automatic : I agree. I believe "extending" means more then just to nullify opposing force it comes in touch with.

I believe the force it comes in touch with needs to to tell it to extend (e.g. some shrink jutsu). I doubt exploding kunais make Yata grow... If anything; it should make it shrink in my mind.

Changing any and all properties leaves almost limitless options : but does it have more then one method?
*To return the same opposing force
*To detect incomming opposing force directed to its wielder <- does not make sense
*To extend itself to protect its weilder <- does not make sense

I am ready to consider argument that states the mirror extends from the kinetic energy applied to it; but there has to be a reason for the growth.

Khisi is clever. He thinks about weakness and uses them in the story. He even used Itachi to state this himself. Good example when he let Obito place a "sticky bomb" on Minato :) Showing clever use of tacktic that counters ftg.

featless mirror is featless... yeah just overhelming hype hahaha stupid ;)

Where was Yata Mirror when Itachi was pulled by Chibaku Tensei ?
Where was yata Mirror when Itachi was attacked by Kabuto dangerous techniques ?

Ofc course Kishi didn;t bring it back as he know it won't work... so he hoped people will forget about it, but guess what he was wrong.

Yata Mirror can block elemental attacks, Explosive note, Clash with the Sword and Hydra monster

Against Bijuudama, PS slashes etc. Yata is featlesss so I treat it as that.

TBB Solos ;), until Yata Mirror hype will be backed up with manga feats against Current The strongest attack ;)

I would like to see Yata turn back Juubi Jin Obito's attack "Turn all Ninjutsu into nothing", hahah lol

Good luck Yata...

i stick to this thought

sound >>>> yata .

In Greek mythology there was a fox that was destined never to be caught and a dog which was destined always to catch its quarry..

I think we are often dealing with this problem in the narutobase. What happens when all powerful attack and all powerful shield collide?

funny shit.
