I personally think Yamato's gonna play an important role eventually, probably concerning Madara or something. I don't think he'd have been introduced as such an important member of Team 7 (albeit a substitute but he became a persistent character and probably got just as much panel time as Kakashi) if he wasn't going to play a huge role later on.

Maybe get saved somehow and take Madara's Hashi powers back like Oro took his back from Kabuto.

IF he absorbed some of Hashi's energy, I think it could be possible that Yamato would face Madara (not the masked one) and defeat him with some help.
