Yahiko wasn't a spokes person, he was the leader.
Nagato wasn't the leader, and was only made the leader after the death of yahiko.
It was an assumption of Hanzo's, that made sense but wasn't true.

Jiraiya had no chance against pain in any case, knowing it was Nagato would not have helped, and he would not have been able to destroy the pains anyway..

Yahiko was the leader of the akatsuki, and Hanzo feared them, WITHOUT knowing about the rinnegan = Hanzo feared yahiko.

Hanzo knew Yahiko was the *leader* (which is a title btw) doesn't mean Yahiko was the powerhouse behind Akatsuki.
Yahiko was the talkative one.. Nagato was obviously the quiet one.. Hanzo didn't suspect Nagato of being the true power behind Akatsuki until After Yahiko was killed.. which was correct.. Yahiko wasn't more powerful than Nagato in Akatsuki.
Yahiko was the one who took initiative , who people would listen to.. Nagato was simply the muscle of Akatsuki back then.. who Yahiko was betting on to change the Rain village with him..

-also Jiraiya as Toad Sage, could absorb nature energy and Ma' & Pa' could sense Nagato ,
a chakra that Jiraiya is familiar with , and locate him and bring him down... had he been aware that Pein wasn't the controller of the jutsu in time.. but it was too late and he had already lost and arm , throat crushed , & prepared for death.. U_U

Either way, just because he was trained by Jiraiya doesn't mean a thing. He was shown holding a sword, so that is the extent of his known abilities. Everything else is pure speculation.

Yahiko never defeated Prime Hanzo.

Hanzo did not like Akatsuki because as a group they were beginning to challenge his rule (because they may have been moving the masses). As a result: Yahiko died during the Konan rescue.

As Tendo Pain, Yahiko killed a Hanzo that had spent literaly years hidden in seclusion and not training. So after not doing anything for Two years...It is not surprising. Furthermore notice how strong Rusty Hanzo was... he put up a hard challenge for Mifune and even then could have continued fighting, but instead used willpower to suicide it.


I honestly never saw anything from Yahiko to put him in a Top 15 :/... still I love that Yahiko was a Water Type.

I believe Yahiko fits in top 20 easily, he made Prime hanzo shit his pants.

Prime hanzo > Sannin.

Yahiko was a WATER style ninja, a strong water style user is very hard to deal with, like Kisame/Tobirama.
He also used kenjutsu, much like tobirama.
Nagato used Yahiko's body to stop the rain, being a Water ninja, it may have been one of his many ability's, and he could sense anyone that was under the rain.

So, he was a water style shinobi that used kenjutsu ( Like tobirama ) Trained by Jiraiya ( who trained Minato..) Did he have a FTG?

I wish we could see some of his fighting, but using the A>B>C method that half of you use, he's top 20. ATLEAST.

Yea no. Yahiko has no feats except killing some fodders and a few water justu's.
He's only top 20 to people who think he's pain. And Hanzo is overrated, he fought the sannin as teenagers, and any of them would break him like a twig now. That's including dead jiraya.
