From what we've seen with the latest chapter, we can only assume that Obito doesn't even know what he's doing yet until Kishi decides this weekend.
This Rin being a three tails jinchuriki doesn't make sense.
1.) During his reign as Mizukage, the village was known as the "Village of the Bloody Mist" (血霧の里, Chigiri no Sato). This was exemplified by the barbaric ritual where Academy students would be forced to kill each other in order to graduate. The practice was discontinued when an entire graduating class of students was massacred by a young Zabuza Momochi.[2] It is also likely that Yagura was the Mizukage whom Zabuza tried to assassinate when he revolted.[3 (narutowiki)
1.)A.) If this is true, then Zabuza would of graduated around the same time as Kakashi.
1.B.) Yagura doesn't look THAT old, i can't find his age however
1.C.) Rin being Jinchuriki and dying with the Sanbi, the Sanbi would of been destroyed and reincarinated at a later date.
2.) The only possible way this could of worked, is that Madara had the mizukage unseal the sanbi from himself, put it in Rin, and pretend that the Mizukage still has it.
2.)A.) It isn't like he could just take back the sanbi after Rin died, due to the reincaration of the tailed beast.
3.) However, however, however, The Sanbi was captured by the Atauski in a lake, not within a jinchuriki, this leads me to think that number 2.) explains 3.)
