He enjoys being sarcastic and likes to provoke his friends for the fun of it.

History:
Kurogane was born on Nihon Island into a strong Shinobi family - a family well known for their adept skills in weaponry; this boy would be no different. Born during a time of peace, kurogane's dream, was to become a powerful warrior. His parents encouraged this dream, and helped their son by passing on the clan’s way of weaponry. He was also intensely trained in the ways of Iaido and Battōjutsu.
Kurogane long since took an interest in the ways of Kenjutsu, something he secretly practiced with Ginryū, his family’s heirloom. Kurogane grew up in the province of Suwa in Nihon. His father was the personal bodyguard for the daughter of the royal family and a great warrior whose job was to protect Nihon and the Princess, while his mother was the Princess’s personal aid. Kurogane was an energetic and outgoing child who never wanted to disappoint his mother and wanted to be just like his father. Under his supervision, Kurogane was trained in the use of the katana and also learned his father's special technique. His ambition was to become stronger, not for the sake of being strong, but so he could use his strength to protect the people of Nihon and his parents.
As politics tends to be a dirty business, though, and Nihon Island - like others - had made enemies, a great tragedy would occur very early in Kurogane’s life that would forever change him.
A clan from a rival village had slowly infiltrated Nihon in small numbers, posing as merchants and immigrants. Princess Shion – the daughter of the royal family - was their targets.
It happened while Kurogane was returning from the mountains - he heard large explosions in the direction of the royal family’s castle and rushed home, only to find is house ablaze and in shambles. He knew the others would've heard, would be coming, but it was still too late as he watched his parents, kneeling on the ground, bound and hurt by the explosion, be beheaded in front of him by those rival village members. Shock and disbelief froze him in place. Time seem to slow down everything seemed to be growing distant, losing color. No emotions flowed, he didn't know how to feel, and so he didn't. And the sky cried for him.
Hours later, the ruler of Nihon, arrived with his Shinobi army. They found that all the rival clan members were killed with Kurogane still in the ruins of his home. As the king approached Kurogane, who was too shocked to fully comprehend all that had happened and was still carrying his father’s head, he attempted to attack him. The king ordered her ninjas to attack, but soon realized that Kurogane had lost his sanity and would do more harm than good when he killed all her warriors with ease. The king decided to personally subdue him, but was interrupted by his daughter. Rather than let her father Subdue Kurogane, Shion suggested that she do so. Using her tachi-dori ("sword-taking") technique , she disarmed Kurogane and bound him, knelt beside him and whispered, "Let's let your father sleep, shall we?" as she closed the dead Warrior's eyes. At those simple words, she managed to snap him out of his madness. Realization swept over him and he broke down in tears, and finally, exhausted, he fell asleep.
When he woke up, he found himself cleaned and his hand in bandages. Beside him was Shion, carrying Ginryū in her lap, explained that he was in the royal family’s Castle.
Kurogane, from sympathy from the young woman, was assigned small duties within the castle while he recuperated. Shion, out of curiosity, appointed the boy as her personal guard. However, due to the murderous capability that he had portrayed previously, the lord was uneasy, and assigned the Captain of the Guards to serve along side Kurogane - he had his orders to strike him down should he try anything.
After a short time, the Captain began to see a change in Kurogane, and decided that any murderous intent that had once been in the boy was long past. He took the boy under his tutelage, since he was indeed now part of the Castle Guard. Over his time there, he taught him various arts of Swordplay, from Iaido to Battojutsu, in an attempt to draw out Kurogane's great potential, and to teach him how to use it for what was right, and for honor.
When the Captain told him that he had nothing more to teach him, Kurogane set off for Konohagakure, taking Ginryū in order to prove that he was the strongest ninja in the world. The journey to Konohagakure was long and arduous. As Kurogane reached the mainland he came across a man with blond hair with a child by his side. Not knowing what to make of this, kurogane approached the pair to ask for directions. As he got closer, kurogane could tell that this man was a swordsman and a talented on to that. Seeing this as a chance to experience to fighting style of the mainland Kurogane attacked him.
They clashed - and, as expected, the Blond haired man was a talented swordsman.The man questioned him as to why he was fighting him, but kurogane only pushed harder. Suddenly, the blond haired swordsman launched his case of katana into the air, having hundreds of blades come raining down upon the field. The intense clash lasted for one full day. When no victor could be decided, both agreed to a draw and finally collapsed from exhaustion.
When kurogane came to, he was in a cave by a warm fire. At the mouth of the cave sat the blond haired swordsman and the child, both looking at the rain outside. around, Mifune, as Kurogane later learned was his name, offered a seaweed candy to him. This simple gesture marked the beginning of their friendship.
