The past few weeks have been awash with news stories of retailers stating that Xbox One pre-orders have surpassed expectations and that next-generation hardware might not suffer the slow start many had anticipated. Today however, we have the first word on the potential demand outstripping supply.

The retailer in question is Amazon, wherein the UK arm of the company has begun e-mailing customers to warn that the stock of the Xbox One console may be limited, and that delivery on launch day may not be possible. The company has wisely offered customers the chance to cancel their pre-order in order to avoid any negative publicity.

The communication states that the supply of the product may be limited, and that the company is, “Awaiting a revised estimate from our supplier.”
What this means in real terms is not yet known, especially as Microsoft is yet to announce a price or release date for the hardware. Electronic Theatre will keep you updated as this story develops.
