I recently saw X-Men Last Stand again and I thought, why didn't they try to cure her as opposed to Logan being forced to kill her? I mean the thought didn't even cross their minds and the entire movie was about the discovery of a cure. Curing her likely wouldn't stop the alternate personality, but it would at least keep her from killing everyone.

Now I know she can read minds and everything, but Logan could have simply ambushed her, like Beast did to Magneto, and stick her with the cure. Again, its unlikely, but if she was truly that dangerous, they should have thought of the option. Not even Jean thought of it, despite the fact she was committed to dying instead.

Was the idea thought of and passed on considering giving her the cure would be anticlimactic? She was the most powerful mutant alive after all, so curing her would be a downer on the story. Or was it just not thought of?

Did you read the comics? The stronger the mutant the less the chances are of getting cured. Although it can be suppressed as magneto powers were suppressed temporarily but later gained it back

Awww, no I haven't read the comics. But the way I see it, it could simply be like a daily insulin shot. If they cured her and she wanted to say cured, she could just keep taking it. Again, I think this option was never proposed because having a powerless Jean Grey would take some serious luster out of the story.
