when he was facing orochimaru he was able to combine both fire and earth (earth style dragon mud bomb jutsu with dragon flame bomb jutsu) in the anime but it would have been cool to see laval release on hiruzen when facing orochimaru

Exactly. I feel like kkg shouldnt even exist in elemental fashion because you can combine them so many ways to make so much stuff. I understand dojutsu and stuff like that being an inherited trait but chakra element? Doesn't make sense to me really if people can learn multiple elements then why couldn't they combine them?

I mean Earth and Water= Mokuton.

They can only have so many Kekkai Genkais in this series.

There are not unlimited elements. Just five standard ones.
