i plan on moving soon to get my own apartment. i do have a friend that don't have his own place but is currently looking.

if i do move into my own apartment before he finds his place, would you think it is wise to let him move in my place until then?:shrug::shrug:

It can work out but it can also go horribly wrong. If it was me I would make sure they knew it is only temporary, I would give them a date when they need to move out by. Once someone has a place to stay they can sometimes lose the motivation to find anywhere else. It all depends on how well you know them :)

this is the reason why it is such a complicated decision. he my best friend but i don't want to be in my living room for years when he has his own money coming in. i don't mind him staying there but i know i need my own space and it won't really be my own if he's there.

Sure to share rent and stuff. But if that person is a slob and eats like there is no tomorrow then no.

It is difficult as you want to help a friend but it is hard to get rid of someone once they move in. You can always charge him rent and a share of the bills, that might make him keener to find his own place in good time lol

id let them move in for free for the month or two till they got a job if they didnt. otherwise no. And if they didnt get a job by the time limit i set for them then they gots to go. Im not going to pay for some one elses living, but ill help out a friend in need. But that only goes so far.

in your case sure let him move in till he finds his, and tell him before he moves in if he exceeds a certain time period living there he has to start helping you with rent.

Hmm donno, it depends on your age as well i guess, if it's like college or right after... at that time i would like living with my best bud... but if you're all grown up starting an adult life then it might get complicated. Like everyone said, once you have a place to stay and you like it, why leave so soon?
But as a friend for a couple of weeks or whatever period you decide on yea let him stay with you, that's what friends are for :)

Don't know. If i were you i would really enjoy it, have someone to spend time with, party have fun... stuff like that. although not soo cool on the free part so you could share some of the bills. :D
But that's just me, and what i would do if i were in your situation with my friend. Now you know yourself, your friend and your life better than anyone so i am sure you will make the best choice :)

i appreciate the opinions i get and when i gather everything that i have been told is that it's okay to do it as long as we share in the bills and rent.

so that is what i am going to do.

Charge him rent or at least part of the electricity bills and stuff and make him get his own food. Don't be too soft my friend let me stay at his house for "2 weeks" I was there for 3 years. I payed for all my own stuff and all but its just an example people can be hard to get rid of. Also, make sure he isn't a slob who's going to ruin your place make a mess have a bunch of losers visiting all the time stuff like that. Hell maybe you guys can just find a 2 bedroom and split rent and be roomates its way easier with 2 people paying the bills then you both have your finding a place issue solved.

F*** no. If everything is free they will leave the lights on, waste water, turn the heat/ac on high, and eat all of your food. Unless they are doing all of the cleaning, dusting, cooking, etc don't let them leech off of you for free they won't want to leave.

Yes as long as he cleans after himself and if he's gonna stay for a few months, he should help u pay rent but if you don't want to ask him for money, at least tell him he should help with buying food & keeping it clean.
