Just a random question that popped up into my head, but anyways from the title would you
Couldn't save both of their best friends (Obito and Orochimaru)
Couldn't protect their masters (Minato and Hiruzen)
Both their students turned evil (Sasuke and Nagato)
Jiraiya always got rejected by Tsunade
And he couldn't stop Pain
Kakashi so far has lost every battle he has fought in
Lost his parents
He also couldn't protect Rin and lost Asuma
And by the looks of it Guy will die too in this battle

As you can see there is a long list of failed events in their lives,
But they both did train Naruto to become the person he is today

Would you consider them failures? I don't IMO, but what do you think?

Like you said, just because they failed does;t make them failures. Sitting and accepting their defeat would make them failures.

Actually, they both are successful, Kakashi's in making and Jiraiya is the reason behind where Naruto stands today...
Losing a battle doesn't mean failure, I don't remember any battle where Kakashi's lack of strength failed a specific task...

Kakashi didn't lose all his battles, what about the "naruto bridge", where he won against zabuza..
Jiraiya made minato and naruto the ppl they're.. By doing so, he won.. Same goes for kakashi, he trained naruto..besides Jiraiya won't be called a sannin for no reason.. And kakashi was the kage candidate when tsunade was sick.. They're winners..!!

I think your getting the wrong idea, i dont hate him, in fact he's one of my favourite characters, I'm just saying that up to now his life has been full of tragedy. And sorry about the asuma thing, you got a point there

IMO They're both failures for lying to Naruto about knowing his parents.

so then what are you if u deny ur failure keep failing or die?

You try not to fail again. A failure focuses on his failings, but you aren't a failure if you learn from them, like they did. So no, they are not failures, they tried to work harder to not fail again i.e. Naruto.

Jiraiya is not a failure ..... he was the reason for naruto being who he is today

Jiraiya is the one who helped uncover the secret of pain thereby giving Naruto a better chance to defeat pain
if you see this image you can see that Jiraiya had a chance to escape but chose to fight on so that he can uncover the truth about pain and he succeed in doing that
You must be registered for see images

They may have failed a couple of times but that doesn't mean they're failures IMO
They both have some excellent achievements:

Kakashi:
Became Jounin at 12
Tought Sasuke, Sakura and Naruto, which are now all super powerful (the sannin obviously had a part in it to)
Is now the only hope of the Shinobi Alliance ever defeating Obito

Jiraiya:
Sannin, famous around the world
Trained some super powerful people, like Minato, Nagato, Naruto, and more
Killed three of the six paths, and Pain even admitted that he'd have beat them all if he knew the secret behind them (I doubt it, but it is a real achnowledgement, coming from someone who considered himself to be a god.
